LAS VEGAS — The 20th edition of the Pangos All-American Camp, organized and operated by Dinos Trigonis, brought together more than 100 of the top high school basketball prospects from around the country.

The three-day event was held at Bishop Gorman high school in Las Vegas, NV, and featured many of the top basketball media professionals and NBA scouts courtside. The overall camp MVP was [player_tooltip player_id="868219" first="Xavier" last="Booker"] of Cathedral (IN) while Tru Washington of Mountain Pointe (AZ) and Baye Fall of Accelerated Schools (CO) took home the Top 30 game co-MVPs.

In this piece, I give my first five performers from the event. Remember, these five players are hand selected based on how I viewed them live at the event and put together in a way that would allow that specific team to play in a real game.

Devin’s First Five

G [player_tooltip player_id="1046909" first="Elliot" last="Cadeau"], Bergen Catholic (NJ) - Out of all the talented point guards I saw during this event, Cadeau is the guy who I would hand the keys to my team to. The 6-foot-1 junior-to-be plays with great pace and control, has the ball on a string in transition and ball-screen actions and is one of those guys who is thinking one step ahead of the defense. The statisticians in attendance had him with averages of 19 points, five assists and four rebounds per game, further showing his ability to impact multiple aspects of the game.

G [player_tooltip player_id="787367" first="Wesley" last="Yates"], Beaumont United (TX) - A lot of people were buzzing about Yates’ grown-man strength and grown-man game and that’s why I have him on the first five. The 6-foot-4 combo guard is a physical and athletic specimen with plenty of skill in his arsenal. Yates is a tough cover off the dribble as his quick and explosive first step and ability to explode out of a hesitation allows him to get into the paint at-will, while his strength and vertical leaping ability helps him finish through contact around the rim. The rising senior is always in attack mode and showed some three-point shooting prowess off the bounce.

WF [player_tooltip player_id="831114" first="Cody" last="Williams"], Perry (AZ) - The next piece to this first five squad is a floor spreader and slasher extraordinaire. Williams, a long, wiry 6-foot-7 rising senior, put up 18 points per game and did a lot of his damage on catch-and-shoots from three off of drive and kicks. Williams also flashed his off-ball movement, cutting and finishing abilities in both transition and half-court settings.

F [player_tooltip player_id="709255" first="Sean" last="Stewart"], Windemere Prep (FL) - Stewart was one of the more physically-imposing players throughout this event as evidenced by his 22.5 points and 13 rebounds per game averages. The 6-foot-8 Duke-commit has that rare combination of size, strength, physicality and explosive athleticism, and, when you add in his high motor and no-nonsense approach, it’s no secret why he was such a beast in this setting. Stewart is a quick twitch athlete who crashes the offensive boards, can get downhill and finish on straight line-drives and showed touch and great elevation on his mid-range jump shot.

F/C [player_tooltip player_id="868219" first="Xavier" last="Booker"], Cathedral (IN) - As mentioned above, Booker was the overall MVP of the camp and the 6-foot-11 lefty has a skill-set that, if polished, could take him far in this game. The rising senior is a smooth lefty shooter out of pick and pop situations and showed elite finishing around the basket off of rim runs. It’s rare to see a guy so tall and so long to be as fluid as Booker is, but his ability to sprint the floor and catch, gather and finish or execute a drag screen into a pick and pop is what makes him a special prospect.
