In today’s basketball, big men want to stretch the floor. With so much emphasis nowadays on three point shooting, college coaches are looking at bigs who have a versatile skill set. I personally still value true centers, but having size, and the ability to play multiple positions is a great tool for a team to have. It makes for a tough player for the opposing team to matchup with.
The Prep hoops staff has recently released the update New England 2023 rankings. Here we look at ranked versatile big men.

[player_tooltip player_id="1459039" first="JP" last="Estrella"], Brewster Academy, HT 6’11 position F/C, AAU Middlesex Magic

JP is the real deal, and a high level division 1 prospect. He holds many division 1 offers including Duke, and Kansas. JP has grown a lot over the past years, and is starting to grow into his body. He can handle the ball very well for his size, and is aggressive attacking the basket. He has the ability to shoot from the outside, and can also be a force in the post. He might be the biggest stock riser of all this year. He is very athletic, and moves very well for his size. He also has a fundamental skill set down low. JP is living up to his hype.

[player_tooltip player_id="1081858" first="Isaiah" last="Miranda"], Springfield Commonwealth, AAU Rhod Island Elite, HT 7’0, Position PF/C

[player_tooltip player_id="1081858" first="Isaiah" last="Miranda"] is another high level division 1 prospect. He has many division 1 offers including Kentucky. Isaiah is a must see talent. At 7’0 he has guard skills, and can run the floor. He is so athletic, and can throw down highlight dunks in transition. He is very versatile, and can play multiple positions. He can also shoot the three consistently. His long length makes his shot so tough to block. On defense there is no mismatch for him, and his size, and athleticism let him guard any position. Isaiah has super high potential, and even possible down the line potential to play in the NBA.

[player_tooltip player_id="1081852" first="TJ" last="Power"], Worcester Academy, HT 6’8, Position PF, AAU BABC

TJ has many division 1 offers, and the list should continue to keep getting bigger. TJ is a stretch big, that can impact the game in many ways. His talent level is so high. He can shoot the three, he has elite level finishing skills, and can play above the rim. He is so smooth when he plays. He can handle the ball like a guard, and moves like a guard as well. TJ has the perfect skill set for the division 1 level.

[player_tooltip player_id="1477902" first="Chris" last="Rey"], Beaver Country Day, AAU Expression, HT 6’8, Position SG/SF

Chris is a 6’8 versatile player. He can play the shooting guard or small forward. He is a sharp shooter, and can get his shot off in many ways. He can shoot off the dribble, spotting up, or coming off screens. He has a high shot release that is tough to block. He has really improved his strength, and his finishing skills. He can get to the basket, and knows when to kick it out for to the open teammate on the wing, and when to take it himself. Chris is a scorer, but can impact the game in more ways than just scoring.
