Section 7 Team Camp took place on Thursday, June 16th, and concluded Sunday, June 19th. The event was held at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, and featured hundreds of teams from around the country. Several local teams participated in this event, which provided a terrific exposure opportunity for the players. Here's a look at my initial thoughts from the event.

[player_tooltip player_id="1301714" first="Cameron" last="Boozer"] = Jason Tatum 2.0 - The 6'9 wing looked like a man amongst boys. Rebounded and finished at a high level. The Tatum part was his size and ball skills, the 2.0 was his ability to distribute and make plays for his teammates.

The rise of [player_tooltip player_id="986960" first="Nick" last="Jefferson"] - In this day and age it's rare to see a top prospect begin his career on JV. Class of 2025 PG [player_tooltip player_id="986960" first="Nick" last="Jefferson"] did just that last year for Bishop Gorman. This year he looks poised to be a key piece in their quest to recapture their crown. Described by his coaches as an "Alpha Male among Alphas" Jefferson took the defensive challenge of defending one of the top guards in the nation to help the Gales capture the Mayo Clinic Bracket Crown.

Local Bigs Impressed - The addition of [player_tooltip player_id="1489496" first="Cedric" last="Laith"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1486135" first="Tee" last="Bartlett"] to Liberty and Coronado brings some size to 5A. Laith is a high-motor guy with power and a knack for attacking the basket. Bartlet is a big-bodied post with nimble feet and a soft touch. When he got touches he showed the ability to finish around the rim.

Vikings need Cousins - The Vikings are the reigning 5A champs in New Mexico and they return the state's most dominant 1-2 punch in bigs [player_tooltip player_id="1124213" first="Sean" last="Alter"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1176300" first="Kenyon" last="Aguino"], however, their chances at a repeat may lie in the play of guards [player_tooltip player_id="1176305" first="Hudson" last="Brown"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1295246" first="EJ" last="Jordan"]. Brown, a high academic 2025 guard was the primary ballhandler, and head of the press and zone. Jordan a 2023 SG is a long wing with playmaking ability. I thought both players showed improvement from game 1 to game 4 and they were key contributors in the Viking's wins this weekend.

The new big three - [player_tooltip player_id="992483" first="Dusty" last="Stromer"], [player_tooltip player_id="1284186" first="Mercy" last="Miller"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1115502" first="Caleb" last="Foster"] were the most dynamic trio at the event. Foster the downhill terror PG headed to Duke showed terrific physicality and the ability to finish through contact. Miller was a knock-down shooter and Stromer, the Gonzaga commit was able to get to his spot, raise up and knock down shots over opponents.
