Ben Eisendrath, Oakwood – Like his teammate listed in our “Best Shooters” list from this event, Eisendrath’s playmaking ability came as a pleasant surprise to us. The 6-foot-1 point guard plays with exceptional pace and court vision and his willingness to be a set-up guy makes everyone on the court better.
Caleb Foster, SO Notre Dame – It was easy to tell which guy was the Duke-commit on the floor in Notre Dame’s win over Heritage Christian. Foster made his presence felt from the opening tip as his 6-foot-4 frame, strength to go with it and three-level scoring ability was on display. The rising senior made quick work of everyone who tried to guard him by using his change of speeds to get into the lane and his strength to finish through contact. You can tell Foster just see’s the game a couple steps ahead of everyone else on the floor.
Christian Jones Christian Jones 6'4" | SF Bishop Montgomery | 2023 State CA-S , Bishop Montgomery – Not all playmakers have to be of the point guard ilk as Jones has proven time and time again. The rangy and athletic 6-foot-3 wing is a guy who just makes things happen from offensive rebounds to defensive stops and steals to tough transition finishes, the rising senior has knack for the ball and making timely plays. Jones, who scored 23 points, led a second-half surge for Bishop Montgomery that helped them push past Santa Margarita for a win.
Coco Britt, Crossroads – Britt has that true point guard feel where his patience and court vision with the ball in his hands results in positive outcomes for his team. The 6-foot rising sophomore plays with an IQ and feel well-beyond his years and his ability to get into the lane, draw an extra defender and find an open teammate spreads the floor nicely. Britt is a guy who doesn’t over-handle the ball and his game-management was high level in Crossroads’ win over Fairfax.
Jameson Caruso Jameson Caruso 6'0" | PG Beverly Hills | 2023 State CA-S , Beverly Hills – Caruso is a dynamic ball-handler in the half-court setting. His shiftiness combined with change of speeds and various dribble moves makes him a player who is tough for defenders to keep in front. When he does get into the lane, the 6-foot point guard can attack the rim and finish around defenders with crafty up-and-under layups. Caruso is always in attack mode and showed his prowess as a three-level scorer.
Tyler Bey Tyler Bey 6'9" | SF Fairfax | 2023 #177 Nation CA-S , Fairfax – Bey falls into the category of non-PG playmaker simply because he did everything for the Lions in its loss to Crossroads. The 6-foot-7 wing scored a game-high 29 points to go along with 15 rebounds and five blocked shots. Bey, who was technically a senior last season, is hoping to get an extra year of high school eligibility from the Los Angeles City Section, but no ruling has been made on his appeal.
