Elite prospects from southeastern Pennsylvania (and beyond) continue the annual spring / summer ritual of announcing they are transferring high schools. At Prephoops.com we continue to do our best to track all the player movements and pass that information on to our readers.
Below is the fifth installment in our 2022 Transfer Watch series. In this edition of the Transfer Watch, you will notice that one of the top ranked backcourt prospects in Pennsylvania’s Class of 2023 is leaving the state and another all-state prospect in changing schools.
Malachi Arrington – 6’9” / Sophomore / Mercersburg Academy / Team Rio UAA / Center: Arrington is a muscular interior prospect who last season played for Roselle Catholic, the 2022 New Jersey Tournament of Champions winner. Because of his size, build and quick feet, the bulk of Arrington’s scoring damage is done in the paint. When Arrington catches the ball in close, he can score with either hand. He is also a beast on the offensive glass who converts on those second chance opportunities into points. At the other end of the floor, Arrington is physical post defender, rebounds well and triggers fast breaks with accurate outlet passes.

– 6’10” / Sophomore / George School / Team Final EYBL / Center: The 6’10”, 240-pound Bevilacqua is leaving 5A state champion Neumann-Goretti, transferring to George School and reclassing into the 2025 graduate year. Bevilacqua is an interior prospect who possesses good footwork, can establish position on the low blocks and then score with either hand. His size combined with his tenacious style of play make Bevilacqua a force on the glass. Bevilacqua is a decent rim protector as well. Pairing Bevilacqua with all-state prospect

will give George School an intriguing twin towers situation.
Dior Carter – 6’3″ / Freshman / Academy of New Church / Philly Pride National / Combo Guard: The former City School (PA) standout will bring his athleticism, well-rounded skill set and high basketball IQ to an ANC team that is losing its superstar player (See below). On offense Carter is a dribble drive wizard who can get to the rim for lay-ins. When his dribble penetration gets cut off, Carter will distribute the rock to waiting big or kick it out to an open perimeter shooter. He is a versatile and instinctive defender who can guard 1 through 4. In addition to transferring, Carter will reclass into the 2026 graduate year.

– 6’3” / Senior / South Kent School / We R1 / Point Guard: One of the top-ranked guard prospects in Pennsylvania is taking his talents to Connecticut. Jackson is a 1st team All-State selection (non-PIAA) who reminds us of Russell Westbrook is his prime, but with an automatic jump shot. Jackson’s attacking, high energy style of play is a thing of beauty to watch. Last season at Academy of New Church he posted 17.9 points, 5.7 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game and led ANC to the state semis. Jackson holds offers from numerous DI programs including Maryland, Penn State. Miami, Notre Dame, and Syracuse.

– 6’4″ / Junior / Friends Central / East Coast Power / Combo Guard: In 2021-22 Muhammad averaged 21.5 points and 6.5 boards per game for Germantown Friends School and was a 1st Team All-Friends League as well as 1st Team All-State selection (non-PIAA). This natural born perimeter scoring threat will now jump to Friends Central and reclass into the 2024 graduate year. His astonishing 45-point scoring effort against Cathedral Prep (NY) back in December of 2021 was one of the most talked about performances of the 2021-22 season. Muhammad is already generating interest from a slew of DI schools and he has barely scratched the surface of his potential.
