Below is the fourth installment in our 2022 Transfer Watch series. In this edition of the Transfer Watch, you will notice that the Phelps School is reloading for the 2022-23 season.
Gene Anderson – 6’8″ / Senior / Phelps School / Team Durant / Power Forward: Anderson is a fluid and extremely athletic prospect who averaged 12.8 points and 13 rebounds per game during his 2021-22 season at Archbishop Carroll (Wash., DC). He thrives in transition, where he can finish a break with a slam. Anderson also excels at converting offensive rebounds into points. At the other of the court Anderson is a fierce shot blocker (2.4 bpg.) and is a beast on the defensive glass.
Quadri Bashiru – 6’8″ / Freshman / Hill School / PSA Cardinals / Power Forward: Bashiru is a native of Lagos, Nigeria who played at West Nottingham Academy (MD) last season. Bashiru’s basketball skills are raw. However, he is a high-level athlete with length, an enormous wingspan, speed, and a quick second jump. So, his upside is intriguing. Bashiru makes his scoring contributions on second chance opportunities and fast break dunks. But his jump shot possesses textbook form and could quickly become a legitimate weapon. At the other end Bashiru is a shot blocking and rebounding machine.
Jake Bolyn Jake Bolyn 6'5" | SG Perkiomen School | 2024 State PA – 6’5” / Junior / Perkiomen School / Gibb Elite / Shooting Guard: The former Owen J. Roberts standout will transfer to Perkiomen School and reclass into the 2024 graduate year. Bolyn is a high percentage 3-point shooter with range well beyond the college line and a quick trigger. Thus, he is an effective floor spacer for any team he plays on. During the 2021-22 season Bolyn averaged 10 ppg. and scored a season high of 26 points (5 threes) vs. Pottstown. With his height and muscled physique Bolyn is an impactful defensive rebounder as well. Bolyn’s list of 2021-22 post-season honors included being selected as OJR’s team MVP, 2nd Team All-Pioneer Athletic Conference and Honorable Mention All-Area.
Justin Houser – 6’11″ / Sophomore / Phelps School / NJ Scholars Elite / Center: With his height and extensive reach Houser is an intimidating rim protector as well as a tremendous rebounder. This powerful lefty (200 lbs.) can finish with authority in transition or in the half-court. He possesses solid foot work and a polished post game (for a 2024), so Houser can score with his back to the basket. Houser owns a decent face up game as well. On occasion he will even drain a 3-ball. In 2021-22 Houser helped lead Cedar Cliff (PA) to 22 wins, the District 3-6A semis and an appearance in the PIAA state tournament.
Chris Stokel – 6’1″ / Post Grad / Phelps School / Crown Basketball / Combo Guard: Stokel was a four-year varsity player at the Calhoun School (NY) who as a senior in 2021-22 averaged 25 points per game. When Stokel runs as a shooting guard, he can space the floor with his elite three-point shooting. His handles are tight enough that Stokel can slide to the point guard spot and run a team. Lastly, Stokel is a solid team defender who produces a couple steals each game.
