War For The North: 13U Standouts

Chicago, IL. — The 13U division at War For The North has been our most stacked 13u tournament so far this year on the Prep Hoops Next Circuit. I was able to watch the quarterfinals and semifinals of the bracket on Sunday in Chicago and it was really good basketball. Below are five standouts from the two set of games.

2027 Jaxson Davis | Flight Athletics

Davis definitely gets the nod as the best player this past weekend at War For The North. I did not say he was the best prospect, but he was definitely the best player. In the first game I saw of him, he legitimately either assisted or scored on every basket for his team in the first 10 minutes of the game. He uses his speed to his advantage and is nearly impossible to stay in front of on the defensive end. He is an elite guard that is definitely in conversation for one of the top guards I have seen from the 2027 class thus far in 2022.

2027 Markese Peoples | Chicago Demons

I don’t know if anyone wanted to guard People’s this past weekend in Chicago as he was very hard to stop. I first saw People’s a little over a year ago and he was dominant then, but what he did this past weekend was quite remarkable. He used his strength to absolutely bully defenders to the rim which is where he scored most of his points. Given his muscle mass and speed, People is turning into an intriguing prospect out of the Chicago Demons program.

2027 Tref Rademaker | Grind Elite

Rademaker immediately stands out because of size and the 6’3 7th grader went to work for Grind Elite all weekend long. He finished around the rim with ease but also showed he can stretch out and hit a mid range jumper at a consistent level. Grind Elite had a big weekend in Chicago and Rademaker played a major part in that.

2027 Cameron Riggs | Flight Athletics

Riggs was an absolute workhorse for the 13u champions, Flight Athletics in the two games I saw of him. Standing at 6’4, he was really hard to keep off the glass where he hauled in rebounds on both ends of the ball. A major advantage for his team was Riggs’ ability to grab offensive rebounds and create second chance opportunities for his team. It will be interesting to see the next phase of growth Riggs goes through to really see what his position projection will look like.

2027 Davion Thompson | Flight Athletics

Statistically Thompson might have not had the best weekend but there is a lot of potential and upside for him. Thompson has a skilled handle that he was showing off on championship Sunday as he is very comfortable with the ball in his hands. He can also play off the ball where he is constantly moving to get himself open. Thompson in my eyes could be a national name sooner rather than later.
