The Spring Thriller was an event at the Clava Sports Facility in Lake Forest, CA. It was the 2nd live period in April. Here’s our take on a few more prospects who we thought played well at this event.

Alon Garrett 6’4 2023 W/SF of Antelope HS, Rose City Ballers 17U

Garretts on the thin side, and needs to bulk up and play more physical, nonetheless he’s a high IQ player with a good set of fundamental skills. He gives good effort, works well from the high post with good passing and a jump shot he can hit around the free throw area. He has good length to go after rebounds and defend. He runs the court.

[player_tooltip player_id="1119258" first="Tyron" last="Jackson"] Jr. 6’3 W/F of Oakland Tech HS, San Francisco Rebels 16u.

He plays with good energy. Jackson is one of those players that makes his presence known by working hard on both ends, without scoring points. He’s an aggressive defender in the post and on the perimeter. He’ll go after rebounds, and blocks. He’ll get points filling the lanes in transition, and put-backs.

Kayshaun Hunt 5’9 2024 PG of Pittsburg HS, Dream Sports Academy 16.

He’s a wiry player with some point guard tools to work with. He handles the ball a lot up top. He made good decisions, handled the pressure applied in the full court, and his vision passing was good. He’s a bit crafty in the way he gets his shot off amongst the bigs in the paint and avoiding contact. He did finish around the basket, we’ll see more of him.

[player_tooltip player_id="1264593" first="Zemaury" last="Erfe"] 5’10 2024 PG of Sacred Heart Cathedral HS, San Francisco Rebels 16u.

He has quality handles, plays under control and always looking to find open players in transition. He has the vision and patience up top to run the half-court offense. He did well getting into the paint using his floater, and paint jumper.

Marrel Alexander 6’3 2025 W/F of Pittsburg HS, Dream Sports Academy 16.

He’s a bit on the raw side offensively. He’s athletic with good hops, and will throw one down if he gets a clear path. At 6’3 in this age group16, he was effective in the post getting rebounds and defending in the post. He has the freedom to try things away from the basket. He’ll rebound and dribble, shoot an open jumper. He’s an improving player we’ll see more of.

[player_tooltip player_id="1498204" first="Ivan" last="Soto"] 6’1 2023 SG of El Camino HS, San Francisco Rebels 17U

Soto has a good 3-pt shot in transition and spotting up around the perimeter. He’s a heads up guard who plays with good balance, and makes the extra pass. He’s an alert defender able to stay in front of his man and help on the weak side. He has a decent set of handles and can get to the basket from the perimeter.

Dominic Walker 6’2 2025 W/F of Moreau Catholic HS, San Francisco Rebels 15u

He’s a long armed player who can guard bigger players in the post at the 15u level, moving his feet, and length to guard side to side, never getting stuck behind his man. He can guard on the perimeter, run the lanes, and will cut to the basket for finishes. He’s a good passer, and will shoot if he’s open.

Khalil Jones 6’5 2024 of Archbishop Riordan HS, San Francisco Rebels 16u.

He’s on the raw side, still learning the game. He has good length and movements. He has a growing frame to add muscle. He gives good effort when he’s on the court, going after rebounds, and blocks. He did okay defending his area. Sharpening his fundamentals skills, we’ll see a rise in his game. He’s on the Wright’s Watch List.
