Seth Miron – SF – Wisconsin Crusaders Premier 2023
Miron is a 6-foot-5 small forward who shined for a loaded Crusaders squad on Sunday morning. Hit three threes from all over the floor, stepping into a triple in transition and hitting off the catch. Moves very well with and without the ball and found openings in the defense all game to get his shots up. Made sharp cuts through the lane and would either take it up strong or dish a quick touch pass to another teammate for an inside bucket. Quarterback on the football field as well.
Maasai Gibson Maasai Gibson 6'4" | PF Chicago AG Science | 2023 IL – F – Old Gold 2023
The Hyde Park (Chicago) forward hustled all day on Sunday, powering through the lane with his big frame. At 6-foot-4, he bullied smaller defenders but still went right at taller opponents. Nice touch around the rim and stayed straight up on defense inside. Strong interior four man.
Caleb David – G – HDX 17U
David was already having a strong tournament heading into Sunday’s action, but exploded onto the scene with a 31-point outing in a win for HDX. The Francis W. Parker HS prospect out of Chicago slashed his way to the rack consistently, finishing strong at the rim and showing acrobatic body-control. The lefty is fast out in transition and set up his teammates on the wing when he wasn’t driving.
Levi Birkholz – G – Wisconsin Crusaders Premier 2023
Birkholz is an uber-athletic lead guard who played as well as any guard I watched on Sunday. Used a nasty crossover to break a pair of ankles and put his defender on the ground behind him. Elevated for a loud block on the defensive end too. Bouncy 6-foot-3 guard was throwing down dunks between whistles and jumping through the lane on drives. Showcased great court vision and didn’t force anything. Well-rounded guard.
Aidan Barrett – SF – Midwest Braves 2023
Barrett towers over other guards and wings at 6-foot-6 playing on the perimeter. One of the best shooters that I watched all weekend, he hit three threes with a very smooth, quick release on his jumper. Smart shot selection even when he was hot from deep.
Ben Golan – W/F – R4L Elite 2023
Golan was one of the most efficient players in the event, picking and choosing when to take it inside and use his natural strength and also pulling up from outside numerous times. Very strong for a wing, and set up in the post on some occasions. High-points the ball on rebounds like a tight end going up for a catch. Overall hard-nosed, hardworking player. Kept his focus even when other team got chippy. Lots of green flags in Golan’s game.
Josiah Ullom – G – Team Future 2023
Ullom showed out in an early afternoon win over Midwest Braves. Super tough guard plays much bigger than his size. Called multiple isolation plays and made smart plays in each instance, including a tough and-one finish in heavy traffic at the rim. Loves coming to a jump stop in the paint and either finishing with a short-range jumper or lunging through for a lay-up.
