This event was filled with thriller games, buzzer beaters, shocking upsets, high-speed talent, elite ball-handlers, deadly sharpshooters, unstoppable bucket getters, and dominant postmen. Here we acknowledge some of the best prospects and top-performing athletes of the weekend.
First Team
Kyrell Black | Point Guard | Fort Smith, AR | Hoyas Elite 2028
Kyrell Black stood out in each game as one of the most skilled guards in the building. Black proved to be a bonafide bucket getter with fancy footwork, great foot speed, and impressive body control. He grabbed defensive rebounds and outlet passes and got downhill in a hurry showing unstoppable open court quickness and a knack for changing gears at top speed. Superb handles, Kyrell Black had the ball on a string which allowed him to create phenomenal scoring plays in a variety of ways within the halfcourt often getting to hoop for contact finishes. Solid jumpshooter with a respectable outside presence, nice stroke, and good range. Kyrell Black consistently carried the scoring load for the Hoyas throughout the weekend, leading them to the championship game before falling short of the victory.
Chase Branham | Point Guard | Rogersville, MO | Missouri Crush 2027
Missouri Crush’s lead guard, Chase Branham orchestrated his offense and put his teammates in successful positions to score, quickly hitting cutters with pinpoint passes and constantly moving the ball with speed while keeping the turnovers at a low rate. Very highly skilled ball-handler and elite dribbler with tremendous burst. Branham’s instincts are on another level as well, Chase sees, thinks, and plays the game like someone who’s played varsity basketball for years. When watching Chase compete you can’t help but admire how he leaves it all on the floor and gives you everything he has from the tip to the buzzer on each and every possession. His outstanding effort is what makes him one of the purest playmakers you’ll find in any gym in America. Chase Branham is everything a coach could ask for in their point guard, he’s tough, he’s a leader, he plays with a team-first mentality, exhibits extremely high confidence, lays his body on the line hustling for loose balls, has 101 moves in his bag at all times, shows amazing court vision, creates for everyone with pride showing a love for getting his teammates involved, he can shoot the cover off the ball, and Chase touches the paint whenever he pleases.
Brady Dapkus | Shooting Guard | Ashland, MO | 573 Elite 2026
This relentless bucket getter was in attack mode every time the ball was in his hands. Scoring off the dribble proved to be a strength for Dapkus, displaying a smooth blow-by on the drive after going at the hip of his defenders and putting a shot up the moment he had daylight. Fast-moving combo dribbles, each bounce mattered, he didn’t waste a single dribble and made sure his moves took him somewhere. Brady Dapkus picked players apart in isolation, pulling the ball out sizing his man up before putting his defenders on skates, and proceeding to attack the lane where he was a threat to finish on either side of the rack with either hand with ease. Dapkus was also unphased by fouls, bumps, and hits showing the wherewithal and the toughness to go through traffic all the way to the basket for the points and the whistle. If the defense decided to play Brady’s drive he let it fly from deep and often came up successful, knocking down catch and shoot three-pointers by stepping into his shot, he even pulled up with step-back jumpers, and in the mid-range Brady nailed contested jumpshots at a high rate. I also loved how Dapkus followed his own shot to the rim, this effort led to him grabbing his own board for multiple putbacks.
Jalen Montonati | Guard/Forward | Owasso, OK | Team Griffin Red 2026
Lengthy 6-foot-6-inch athletic guard that beat his opponents down with his scoring prowess. Montonati displayed an elite ability to create his own shot and shoot it from all three levels. Lethal bucket getter from several areas on the court with a great-looking shooting stroke from top to bottom, but Jalen Montonati was at his best in the mid-range where he was a pure shooter with a deadly crossover that always led him into his jumpshot. Once he pulled up he had a clear view of the basket every time. When needed, effective combination dribbles in the mid-range got him separation, when tightly defended Jalen utilized his signature unblockable turnaround baseline jumper, or he looked to back his man down for a quick spin into the paint. This kid is something special, his ceiling is high, and his potential is through the roof.
Jamal Holden | Center | Little Rock, AR | Buchanan’s Performance Academy 2027
Jamal Holden is one of those players that’s always in the right spot at the most opportune times both offensively and defensively. On the defensive end, any shot against him was a challenge, and on the offensive end his massive standing reach made him practically unguardable near the paint. Holden easily elevated overtop of contesting defenders and knocked down mid-range jumpers. Holden consistently excelled down low when rolling to the basket with his hands high, running the floor rim to rim, producing second chance shot opportunities, and always finishing with a soft touch. Tremendous control of the glass, Jamal went up high and hard to snag rebounds the moment they came off the rim. His relentless determination on the boards allowed Holden to single handily outrebound Team Buddy Buckets by his lonesome, especially on the defensive side of the ball where he didn’t allow any second-chance shots inside, his rebounding efforts made it difficult for a jump shooting teams to prosper. This standout center led his team in multiple ways throughout the weekend, through bracket play, and during their championship win.
