Team Takeover continues to bring high level talent to this event every Memorial Day Weekend and this year is no different. Below are some of the five standouts from the opening night of the event…
2026 Latrell Allmond | Team Loaded VA
There has been a lot of talk about the 6’8 8th grader and I am glad I finally got to see him last night to see what all the hype was about. Allmond was great on both sides of the ball and really has an advanced game for his age. Allmond already looks like a high schooler and I would not be surprised to see if get valuable minutes right away next year when he is a freshman. He can hit shots from all over and can guard multiple positions making him a valuable two-way impact player at the next level.
2027 Jomar Bernard | Tre Mann Elite
Bernard was the find of the night for me as I love the long term potential from the 7th grader. Standing at 6’4, Bernard oozes in potential because of his size and length. Bernard has advanced shot metrics and that is where he really was able to dominate last night, through his jumper. He looked good with the ball in his hands, makes good passes when he needs to and crashes the boards on both ends. Really like the future that the Florida native has.
2026 Anthony Brown | Team Takeover
Team Takeover is always and will always be known for their guard play and one of the next up at that position is 2026 Ant Brown. Ant Brown led Takeover last night in a win against Team Melo and looked like he was having a blast while doing so. He has an advanced handle which he uses to separate himself from defenders and is a confident shooter. Brown is the next lead guard to go through the historical Team Takeover program.
2026 Davion Brown | River City Reign
I have seen Brown for almost two years now and he becomes more dominant every time I see him. He is the heart and soul of his River City Reign team and is always the one leading them to victory if his team secures a win that day. He is a dynamic scorer that plays with high energy on the offensive end. The city of Richmond will soon start to know more and more about Brown when he starts high school at Trinity Episcopal in the fall.
2026 Mike Jones Jr. | Team Loaded VA
Maybe the MVP of the day or close to it, Mike Jones Jr. took over for Team Loaded VA in a gutsy win over Team Durant. Both teams were going back and forth all night until Jones decided to take over and lead arguably the number one team in the country to a big win. Jones did it with his playmaking skills from the lead guard position creating for himself off the dribble, setting teammates up and shooting it from different areas of the court. If Jones continues his play like this, he is right up there in the conversation for best point guard in the 2026 class from Virginia, if he is not there already.
