Prep Hoops NorCal stayed at the main gym, Dublin High School in Dublin, CA. Our focus was mainly on the 17U teams, a few 16’s and 15’s playing up. Here are some standouts at this event.
Jamar Howard Jamar Howard 6'3" | SG Pacific Grove | 2023 6’4 2023 SG of Mission Prep, San Luis Obispo, CA.
Howard gave us a good look at his athleticism, and good all-around play. The two sport player (football) excels in transition, his ability to run the court finishing with dunks, and other ways is a big part of his game. You can set lob plays for him in half court, he’ll go get it. He has a good cross-over dribble that gets him going to the basket, good lift on his jump shot, and he could get hot from 3.
Jacob Bannarbie 6’9 2023 PF of Valley Christian, San Jose, CA.
He’s big strong, and moves well on the court when he’s in sync. He’s hard to guard working from the high post and in going towards the basket. His one dribble, and spin move works well for him. In the block area he was just to big and strong to stop at this event. His foot work is decent, he had a good touch around the basket. He’s a top rebounder when he’s locked in.
Andrew McKeever Andrew McKeever 7'0" | C Granada | 2023 State #236 Nation 7’0 2023 Center of Granada HS, Livermore, CA. (Featured)
Standing 7’0 tall he can have more impact on a game than any other player in NorCal. He’s a legitimate post player with good fundamentals. He can but doesn’t do a lot of dunking. His foot-work is steadily improving, he has good touch and doesn’t miss much around the rim. He’s an excellent post passer with good vision to find the open player. He provide paint presence, and will change shots.
Money Williams Money Williams 6'3" | SF Oakland | 2023 State 6’3 2023 SG of Oakland HS, Oakland, CA
Williams has had an eye opening spring, and is a rising prospect in NorCal. He was named MVP during the first Live Period at an event in SoCal recently. The lefty is a calm cool customer who can score the ball at all three levels. He handles up top often, maneuvers his way along the perimeter looking to score off the dribble, and using the mid-range. He works well along the baseline.
Semetri Carr Semetri Carr 6'1" | PG Branson | 2025 State #95 Nation 6’1 2025 PG of The Branson, Ross, CA.
Carr is making a push to be one of NorCal’s next best prospects. He’s only a 2025 but he has a mature game, and is very efficient in what he does on the court, no matter the class. He’s a point guard with all the necessary tools to play at the next level. What sets him apart is not only his efficiency, but his ability to makes shots.
John Squire John Squire 6'7" | C St. Ignatius | 2023 State 6’7 Forward of ST. Ignatius HS, San Francisco, CA.
Squire continued his excellent spring at this event. He could be one of the top rebounding forwards in NorCal. He’s gaining some consistency with his shot beyond the 3pt line. He’s gotten stronger with good foot-work down on the block, and he’s an excellent passer from the high and low post. His defense, and court running are improved.
Khalil Grant Khalil Grant 5'6" | PG Las Lomas | 2023 State 5’8 2023 PG of Las Lomas HS, Las Lomas CA.
Grant was the floor general at this event. He was clicking on all cylinders. He was good at settling the team when needed. He led the transition break with excellent passing up court, using the long bounce, and chess passes to deliver to open players. He made good decisions when it came to scoring or passing. He’s a capable scorer with superb handles, he can penetrate the paint using his floater or paint jumper, he has a quality mid-range jumper and will knock down open 3’s. He’s on the Wright’s Watch List.
