It was an opportunity for PH NorCal to see a lot of NorCal Prospects in action, before they head off to the next live sessions in June with their high school team. Here’s more players from this event who we thought stood out.
Austin Dewes Austin Dewes 6'9" | C Alhambra | 2023 State CA-N 6’9 2023 W/F of Alhambra HS, CA.
Dewes is a long wiry prospect who needs to bulk up a bit. He’s more of an outside- in type of player meaning he seems more comfortable working on the perimeter, where he’s shown he can get into the paint to get a shot. He passes well finding open players looking over the top of the defense, and he can hit the 3 in the corners. He’ll go into the paint with his size to get a bucket when needed.
Amari Gray Amari Gray 6'2" | SG California | 2023 State CA-N 6’1 2023 PG California HS, CA.
A fast moving guard that plays at a good pace, not out of control. He’s a quality ball handler who shows he can run the point guard position, deliver good passes in transition, and can get his own shot working on the wings and in the open court. He’s fearless as he takes it strong to the basket to challenge post defenders. He has the longs arms, quick hands, and speed to be a quality defender.
Jalen Stokes Jalen Stokes 6'5" | SF Dublin | 2025 State #281 Nation CA-N 6’4 2025 W/F of Dublin HS, CA
He’s showing improvement in his overall game. At this event he did a variety of things that adds to his versatility as a player. He’s showing improved ball handling skills as he led the transition break after grabbing a rebound. He made good decision and quality passes. He’s looking to be more aggressive as he went coast to coast a couple of times. He’s scoring more in and around the post area, using a paint jumper and other moves as he worked his way in off the dribble. He has 3pt range.
Alvin Loving Alvin Loving 6'4" | SF Salesian College Preparatory | 2025 State #343 Nation CA-N 6’3 2025 W/SG of Salesian Prep HS, CA.
The big guard has improved his handles, and using his body with good balance to make his way into the paint off the dribble. He’s not super fast but, does effectively get to where he wants to go, usually to the basket, he attacks well from different areas on the court. He has a paint jumper that goes in, he’ll play through contact in the paint. He’ll knock down open 3’s.
King njhsanni Wlihite 6’1 2023 PG/SG of Archbishop Riordan HS, CA.
Wlihite one of NorCal’s top scoring guards, and playmakers is a dynamic scorer who makes tough shots while being guarded closely and sometimes double teamed. The lead guard is comfortable with the ball in his hands, setting the pace of a game. There’s no question about it he can effect the game with the ball in his hands. He can score in different ways.
Donovan Cooks Donovan Cooks 6'1" | PG Dublin | 2023 State CA-N 6’0 2023 PG of Dublin HS, CA
Cooks has all the tools necessary to properly run a offense. He’s a confident ball handler, a quality passer and makes good decisions with the ball. He can penetrate the middle for paint jumpers. At this event we saw improvement in his out side shot from mid-range out to the 3pt line. He’s always been a top notch defender.
Courtney Anderson Courtney Anderson 6'4" | SG Dublin | 2023 State #151 Nation CA-N 6’5 2023 W/SG of Dublin HS, CA.
NorCal’s top 2023 continues to prepare his game for the next level. He’s surrounded with other good players, he looks more comfortable letting the game come to him. He looks more like a true shooting guard, and slasher. He’s getting to a point of consistency knocking down mid-range jumpers, and 3ptrs. He has good elevation off two whenever going up, jump-shots, rebounds and dunks.
Kevin Haupt Kevin Haupt 5'10" | PG Jesuit | 2024 State CA-N . 5’10 2024 SG of Jesuit, CA
The multi skilled point guard is a steady contributor, he’s effective playing both guard positions, with his passing and vision to find late breaking cutters, and big men in the post. He’s always in the flow not just scoring but facilitating. He brings some creativity to his scoring abilities always in control and keeping big men off balance when he gets into the paint. He’s a knock down shooter from mid-range out past the 3pt line. He’s on the Wright’s Watch List.
