Prep Hoops Wisconsin will update the class of 2023 rankings in June. Here’s a look at which prospects are set to crack the list for the first time...

[player_tooltip player_id="1448769" first="Jax" last="Effertz"] - SG - Cumberland/Chippewa Valley Select

Caught Effertz at the Prep Hoops Battle of the Lakes and there’s a lot to like. Effertz posted 18 points, eight rebounds, and three assists per game as a junior. He’s a 6-foot-5 wing who can handle the rock and score with a deadly pull-up game. Effertz is so smooth and deliberate, he can create looks even when defenders are hounding him. Think there’s some sniping potential from 3-point range as well. Effertz can run off screens a bit and knock down perimeter shots if a defender doesn’t get a hand up. A prospect that ties an offense together, Effertz can serve as an extra ball handler and does a great job of making timely cuts to help his teammates out as well.

[player_tooltip player_id="1442045" first="Ben" last="Goedheer"] - PF - Catholic Memorial/MTXE Premier

Servicable big man with some budding versatility. Goedheer has a nice blend of length, power, and finesse. He’s able to stretch the floor from 3-point range and shoots it pretty well from downtown. On the block, Goedheer is patient and plays with good footwork. Type of prospect you may not draw anything up for offensively, but you definitely don’t mind when he gets the ball, because Goedheer is a high percentage scorer that takes quality looks. If it’s not there, he’s moving the ball around the horn and setting a screen for somebody else. Hard worker, busts his butt up and down the floor, and an excellent teammate.

[player_tooltip player_id="1452804" first="Tanner" last="Jones"] - PG - Bangor/Coulee Country

Jones had a really good state tournament and has built on that this spring. A strong and skilled guard, Jones has a terrific pull-up game and utilizes change of pace/direction very well to keep defenders off balance. The lefty has a quick first step and scores efficiently when he gets to his strong hand. Good vision and feel for the game as well. Jones gets into the paint and sees things happening before they actually open up.

[player_tooltip player_id="1409365" first="Carson" last="Koepnick"] - SG - West Salem/Coulee Country

Koepnick is a smart guard that can knock down shots. He averaged 17 points and three assists per game last season while leading West Salem to the Division 3 state title game. The 6-foot-1 sniper moves really well without the ball and can hit shots on the go. Might not blow anybody away athletically, but can connect on off-balance shots and with a hand in his face.

[player_tooltip player_id="1372516" first="Cam" last="Werner"] - PF - Racine Case

Werner doesn’t play AAU, but has proven to be a serviceable big for Racine Case. Still developing, but contributed seven points per game on 57 percent shooting for a 22-6 Eagle squad that reached the state tournament. Wener has really good size and length and 6-foot-8. He’s able to protect the paint and rebound defensively. On the other end, shows some flashes of being able to do things in the open floor or stretch it as a shooter.

[player_tooltip player_id="1439594" first="Riley" last="Yonker"] - G - Menasha/All-Wisconsin

Yonker is a do-it-all type prospect that brings a ton of value to the floor. You just always see him around the ball and making positive things happen. Yonker’s had a terrific spring and earned a spot without a doubt. An all-around player, the 6-foot-3 guard can stuff a stat sheet as a scorer, rebounder, and facilitator. One of those guys -- you’re not quite sure what he is as a prospect, but put him out on the floor and he’ll find ways to stay there. Might not be elite in any one area, but doesn’t have glaring flaws either.
