Bob Gibbons: 2023 Backcourt Standouts

2023 5-10 PG [player_tooltip player_id="1361058" first="James" last="Tyre"] – Atlanta Timberwolves White – Lambert
Tyre is a quick little floor general that does a good job of getting into the teeth of the defense. The quarterback has escapability, elusive when defenders try to stay in front. His football toughness allows him to not get bumped off line when getting to the hoop. Tyre sees the floor well and has nice zip on his cross court passes to open shooters.

2023 6-0 PG [player_tooltip player_id="820305" first="Isaac" last="Martin"] – Atlanta Timberwolves White – King’s Ridge
High IQ knockdown three-point shooter has quality length for his size. Adding strength will help at the next level but his jump shot is where his bread is buttered. The lefty also showed a willingness to rebound on Friday night, recording 14 points and 8 boards. D-III schools are showing heavy interest with Grinnell already offering.

2023 6-2 PG [player_tooltip player_id="948820" first="Kory" last="Mincy"] – AE5 – Tri-Cities
[player_tooltip player_id="948820" first="Kory" last="Mincy"] scores, facilitates and defends at a high level. The state champion has the ball on a string as he tries to manipulate the defense. Mincy has good composure on offense. He lets defenders over pursue before taking one dribble to side step for open jumpers. He also utilizes a pretty floater.

2023 6-1 PG [player_tooltip player_id="820290" first="Keishawn" last="Hampton"] – Norcross Heat – Meadowcreek
Hampton rises to the occasion in big spots. He went toe-to-toe with the Atlanta Xpress and held his own. Keishawn can get hot quickly and score in bunches. He uses high ball screens to free himself of his man and scores with his pull-up jumper. Hampton’s ability to stop on a dime and make shots from the perimeter gives him value at the next level.

2023 6-1 G [player_tooltip player_id="1131540" first="AuMauri" last="Tillman"] – Southern Kings – Westside-Macon
After a scoreless first half, Tillman netted 11 points in the second to help the Southern Kings topple the Upward Stars 66-62. He got going with his floater and three-point shot. Tillman took some tough contested shots in the first half, but when he settled in and started getting his points within the flow of the offense he became much for efficient. Even when his shot wasn’t dropping, Tillman made an impact on the glass with 7 rebounds.

2023 6-0 G [player_tooltip player_id="1458263" first="Kal-el" last="Delgadillo"] – BCB Blue – North Forsyth
Delgadillo is a dangerous perimeter shooter. He netted 20 points vs. Team Huncho 2024, hitting 4 threes and a stepback jumper. Kal-el can play both on and off the ball.

2023 5-7 PG [player_tooltip player_id="1131534" first="Jaylun" last="Goodrum"] – Georgia Suns – First Presbyterian Day
Speed kills. [player_tooltip player_id="1131534" first="Jaylun" last="Goodrum"] is quicker than a hiccup with the ball in his hands. His low center of gravity and shiftiness let him blaze past defenders. He’s able to split traps and get into the teeth of the defense where he is bouncy enough to finish at the rim. Goodrum has great footspeed and active hands as an on-ball defender.
