From 7pm to 10pm we found a handful of bests from various positions, skillsets, etc. Take a look at some of the best from Eden Prairie and from what we saw from the 2028 Class
Best Team Player
Dade Dehmlow | Cedar Rapids, IA | 380 Academy
Dade did knock down some key outside shots in 380 Academy’s big win over Team FSA 2028, however that wasn’t all this young man could do on Friday. Dade showed an excellent abilty to communicate with his teammates by consistently reading into his teammates and working with them to adjust certain sets offensively and defensively. Like I said when I watched it live, it is very difficult to read into communication however the body language and mindset Dade put his 380 Academy teammates in set an honest smooth tempo in their win against Team FSA 2028
Best Defensive Player
Guch Moore, Forward | Milwaukee, WI | 12 Deep Wisconsin
Guch was one of the most stout defenders I got to watch on Friday night. He did a consistent job on the low block & the top of the key by using his stout frame to use his physicality to play aggressive defensive throughout the game I watched. Despite having a handful of defenders taller than him from the Wisconsin Crusaders, he was not phased and put a body on someone at all times and held his own in game 1 of the NEXT Battle at the Lakes.
Best Starting Five from Top to Bottom
Minnesota Fury 2028 Blue
Minnesota Fury showed pure dominance against Inspired Athletics and it did all come from one spot. Gavin Holmquist (Farmington) provided the chaotic defensive that stamped the defensive in their tracks all game long, Charlie Howe (Brooklyn Park) and Jase Johnson (Andover) provided the outside shot clinic, Brady Cook (Maple Grove) provided reactive instincts & strong footwork along with a solid basketball IQ, and Quin Jahnke (STMA) provided a 3rd punch to beyond the 3-point line with a great amount of fluidity in his shot. This starting five’s mix of skillsets really shined bright on Friday night, and I am intrigued to watch them today as one of the deep teams in this field of 2028s at Eden Prairie.
Best Frontcourt Duo
Brian Roberts and Mike Gillis (Cedar Rapids) | 380 Academy
Brian provided the rebounding power in the paint as he outsized the defense significantly in one of the final games on Friday night. Mike was the most intriguing prospect from this game in my eyes, as he provided versatility with his range of shot selection, pounding the boards, and just his overall physicality in the paint. Looking forward to watching both of these young men today in Eden Prairie to see what they can bring yet again at Battle to the Lakes.
Best Handles
Taylor Williamson, Guard | Milwaukee, WI | 12 Deep Wisconsin
This best was not even close to make a decision, as Taylor did a sound job on Friday night with his ball-handling ability. This kid was one that could flip a defender off balance and showed a fearless demeanor for his size to get to the paint. He also showed a crisp passing ability and had some precision under it to setup his teammate for success. Excited to see what this young man can do today in Eden Prairie, as he was a solid point guard 2028 prospect to watch on the first game of Friday night.
More Standouts
Bryson Elkins, Forward | Fall Creek, WI | Wisconsin Playmakers
DJ Cooper, Guard | Eau Claire, WI | Wisconsin Playmakers
Henry Knudsen, Guard | Little Chute, WI | Wisconsin Crusaders
Jaylen Weatherspoon, Forward | Champlin Park, MN | Team FSA
