Blaise Porter Blaise Porter 6'1" | PG New London | 2023 State #298 Nation IA — PG — Iowa Barnstormers 2023
After they had a bit of a lackluster showing against Full Package on Friday night, the Barnstormers rebounded and played really well in a win over PLUTO Prospects. A lot of the Barnstormers’ success can be attributed to Porter. The point guard did a tremendous job running the show. His passing and ball handling skills are so high-level. He does a really nice job of threading the needle and finding ways to pass open teammates when necessary. One of the top prospects in Iowa’s 2023 class, Porter already has a couple of Division One scholarship offers. After his play this weekend, I wouldn’t be surprised if some more come in.
Caden Wilkins Caden Wilkins 6'7" | SF Bettendorf | 2024 State #196 Nation IA — SG — Iowa Barnstormers 2024
There is a very good reason why Wilkins is currently ranked as the top prospect in Iowa’s 2024 class. The shooting guard can do it all. On offense, he is an incredible slasher who uses his rare combination of size and speed to get to the rim and finish. He also has one of the prettiest catch and shoot three-point shots that you will see at the high school level. Wilkins has been on visits to Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin. After a very productive day in Indy, I suspect that other big name programs are going to want to get the touted SG on their campus.
Gavin Carter — PG — PLUTO Prospects 2024
Carter is a crafty guard who is very proficient at getting to the rim. Using his speed and ball-handling skills, the point guard just always seems to find a way to get past his man when he needs to. He is a little bit undersized, but Carter doesn’t let this slow him down in the slightest. In a tough loss to the Iowa Barnstormers, Carter was a bright spot for his team.
Kareem Earl Kareem Earl 6'5" | SF Iowa City West | 2024 State IA — SF — Iowa Barnstormers 2024
I thought that Earl was really solid on Saturday afternoon. The small forward out of Iowa City West knocked down some outside shots, scored well in the paint, rebounded on both ends, and played tough defense. Standing at 6-foot-5 with a sturdy build, Earl’s size allows him to do so many different things on the court. He is able to score in the paint like a forward and shoot from the outside like a guard. Look for Earl’s stock to rise after his strong start to the spring AAU period.
Alex Sherwood Alex Sherwood 6'4" | SF Xavier | 2023 State WI — SF — Wisconsin Crusaders 2023
I really like the developments that Sherwood has made in his game. Since the last time I watched him play, the Xavier small forward looks to have improved in almost every area. He is very good as a shooter from three, and comfortable as a ball handler. In the post, Sherwood has a handful of really good moves that he can go to. This is a SF prospect that coaches should continue to track.
Max Shikenjanski Max Shikenjanski 6'2" | PG Stillwater | 2023 State #288 Nation MN — SG — MN Fury 2023
Shikenjanski is one of the most gifted scorers that I have ever covered. Everything that he does just looks so effortless. An elite shooter and phenomenal finisher, the MN Fury shooting guard just knows how to put the ball in the cup. I was also very impressed with Shikenjanski as a passer. He has an uncanny ability to find open teammates. He recorded 13 points and six assists for Fury in the winning effort.
Levi Birkholz Levi Birkholz 5'2" | SG Lakeside Luthersn | 2023 State #290 Nation WI — SG — Wisconsin Crusaders 2023
Birkholz is a prospect that I just love to watch. He is incredibly skilled, and his ability to make difficult shots has only gotten better. In a close tough loss to MN Fury, Birkholz was able to get some really tough shots to fall. Ranked as a top ten player in Wisconsin’s 2023 class, the shooting guard out of Lakeside Lutheran may not always make shots. But I can guarantee you that every time Birkholz laces up his sneakers, he is going to give his best effort.
