The Stage had a little bit of everything this weekend in Indianapolis and our Prep Hoops staff was there to cover it all. After combing through all of our notes and consulting with fellow scouts from the event it is time to release our All-Tournament teams. Here is a look at our selections from the Class of 2023.
First Team
Ahmere Carson Ahmere Carson 6'2" | PG Anderson | 2023 State IN (Anderson H.S. 2023/EG10 2023): Two weekends, two All-Tournament teams for this EG10 guard on the Grit Region Circuit. Carson is a strong, skilled 6’2″ guard that can flat out score the basketball. The lefty poured in 45 points in a game down in Louisville and followed it up with 26 in a game on Saturday at The Stage.
Matthew Moore Matthew Moore 6'7" | PF Hillcrest | 2023 State IL (Hillcrest H.S. 2023/Chicago Lockdown 2023): Moore added offers from both New Orleans and Radford after a strong showing at The Stage in Indianapolis over the weekend. The 6’8″ forward is an excellent rim protector and can rebound outside of his area. One of the top ranked forwards in the state according to Prep Hoops Illinois.
Hutch Ward Hutch Ward 6'8" | PF Kalamazoo Central | 2023 State MI (Kalamazoo Central H.S. 2023/Michigan Cagers 2023): Another prospect that picked up a scholarship offer after playing well at The Stage, this versatile 6’8″ forward landed an offer from Lake Superior State. He is a high-upside prospect that can score the basketball in a variety of different ways.
A.J. Lux A.J. Lux 6'3" | SG Crown Point | 2023 State IN (Crown Point H.S. 2023/Team GRIII 2023 Elite): Arguably the best shooter at the event, Lux came right out of the gate hitting six three-pointers in the first game of the weekend and followed it up with many more over the next couple of days. The 6’5″ sharpshooter had Division I coaches following him game-to-game at The Stage.
Jake Fiegen Jake Fiegen 6'3" | SG New Trier | 2023 State IL (New Trier H.S. 2023/Full Package 2023): Another elite catch-and-shoot threat, the 6’3″ Fiegen can get hot in a hurry and showed that time and time again at The Stage. This will be a prospect to follow throughout the rest of the spring and summer on the Prep Hoops Grit Region Circuit.
Second Team
Bryce Coleman (Niles Notre Dame 2023/Illinois Stars IBA 2023): If there could be a sixth guy on the first team, Coleman definitely would have been the next choice. He is a great all-around scorer with great size and athleticism on the wing. Big time Division I recruit.
Tyler Van Gorp (New Trier H.S. 2023/Hoops 4 Health): Van Gorp is a legitimate 6’9″-6’10” presence around the basket that is very mobile, rebounds outside of his area, and shows some flashes of skill on the offensive end. Above the rim finisher. Very intriguing two-way prospect.
Cooper Farrall (Culver Academy 2023/Team GRIII 2023 Black): Farrall is a physical presence on the wing with great size. He shot the ball very well this weekend and has good all-around skill on the offensive end of the floor. Coaches were following him around consistently.
Marcus Eaves (North Hopkins H.S. 2023/Griffin Elite 2023 White): An athletic 6’3″ guard with a smooth shooting stroke, Eaves had a couple of big scoring outbursts over the weekend. He consistently creates his own shot off of the dribble and finishes well at the rim.
Jackson Price (Mishawaka Marian H.S. 2023/5Star 2023): This 6’2″ shooter lit it up from beyond the arc all weekend long, but played especially well on Saturday. Price had games of 24 points and 18 points while leading 5Star 2023 to a pair of victories.
Third Team
Cayden Lancaster (Pulaski County H.S. 2023/Griffin Elite 2023 Bordas)
Kros Barrett (Curie H.S. 2023/Team Rose 2023)
Devon Woods (Pike H.S. 2023/EG10 2023)
Kyle Olagbegi (Lincoln Way East H.S. 2023/Illinois TWolves 2023)
Brandon Trilli (Munster H.S. 2023/Team GRIII 2023 Elite)
