Mira Mesa High School was buzzing Saturday night as 30 of the top high school seniors across the county played in the San Diego County All-Star Game, the first countywide all-star affair since 2019.

In the end, it was Team North, led by Boston University commit, that prevailed in a competitive contest 123-114 over a South team led by Helix guard [player_tooltip player_id="971236" first="Markees" last="Williams"]
and Mission Bay guard [player_tooltip player_id="971234" first="Rami" last="Anglo"].

Here are the next five standouts from the event, including a pair of surprising performances from the North Team.

Marley Gonzalez, 6-7 F, Escondido Charter

Arguably the biggest surprise of the event, the 6-7 small-school forward shook off a rocky start to rattle off 15 points, showing off some intriguing pieces of his skill set. He negotiated pressure several times handling the ball on the perimeter, attacked opposing forwards off the dribble, got to the rim and showed some nimble footwork to finish around the basket. He also stepped out and showed soft touch from the corner three. Headed to Yuba College next year, the really young 2022 prospect’s best basketball is ahead of him.

Jesse Snider, 6-5 W, Rancho Buena Vista

Snider was one of the three best passers in the game along with [player_tooltip player_id="971236" first="Markees" last="Williams"] and [player_tooltip player_id="971229" first="Camden" last="McCormick"]. The 6-5 wing has strong court vision and loves to drop the highlight dime. He had several clutch plays in the final quarter, including hitting a big three after the South team cut the lead to two with less than 90 seconds to go. At the next level, he has to improve his lateral athleticism to defend quicker guards, but his offensive skill set is definitely there.

[player_tooltip player_id="1410045" first="Logan" last="Huston"], 6-4 SG, Torrey Pines

A long, athletic combo guard who can score it from two levels, Huston finished several plays in transition, including one finish above the rim, and knocked down a couple of spot-up jump shots off the catch. On the other end of the floor, his length and lateral quickness make him a tough on-ball defender, and he shoots the passing lanes well, which allows him to score in transition.

Ali Johnson, 6-1 G, Point Loma

Johnson won the dunk contest, and proceeded to show flashes of scoring ability in the half court and transition. A two-foot jumper, Johnson does a good job finishing in the paint on balance, and can score it from deep off the bounce. He needs to continue to shore up his handle, especially with his off hand. But his upside stems from his elite and easy athleticism.

Isaiah Hilke, 6-5 WF, Monte Vista

A springy, undersized four man, Hilke is as intriguing a prospect in San Diego due to his freakish length, bounce and motor. He rebounds aggressively out of his area and competes on the offensive boards as well. He hit a big baseline three to bring the South to within two points, and while it isn’t a big component of his game right now, with continued development he could develop into a really good "three and D" wing.
