Mira Mesa High School was buzzing Saturday night as 30 of the top high school seniors across the county played in the San Diego County All-Star Game, the first countywide all-star affair since 2019.

In the end, it was Team North, led by Boston University commit, that prevailed in a competitive contest 123-114 over a South team led by Helix guard [player_tooltip player_id="971236" first="Markees" last="Williams"] and Mission Bay guard [player_tooltip player_id="971234" first="Rami" last="Anglo"].

These three players comprise 60 percent of my Top 5 from the event. Here’s a brief rundown of my top five standouts.

[player_tooltip player_id="970252" first="Otto" last="Landrum"], 6-9 F, Torrey Pines

Landrum flat-out dominated the proceedings, throwing down 8 dunks en route to his 24-point effort. In a setting where you wouldn’t expect a ton of defense, Landrum gave a great effort on the boards and altered or sent back a number of shots at the rim. In a game with only one Division 1 signee, Landrum - signed to Boston University - certainly played like it.

[player_tooltip player_id="971236" first="Markees" last="Williams"], 6-1 PG, Helix

Of all the unsigned players in the game, Williams arguably did the most to move the needle. A dynamic playmaking point guard, Williams displayed flashy handles, excellent balance and body control off the bounce and a nice finishing package. His passing was also on display, notching 10 assists and making a number of nifty dimes into tight windows.

[player_tooltip player_id="971234" first="Rami" last="Anglo"], 6-3 SG, Mission Bay

Anglo came out the gate knocking down triples off the catch, got out in transition and finished layups and otherwise played harder than most of his competitors. Known for his feisty lockdown defense, Anglo, who possesses excellent length for an undersized wing, did a good job showing the improvement in his offensive game that makes him a solid two-way unsigned prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id="748759" first="Alexis" last="Marmolejos"], 6-2 G, Army Navy

The second leading scorer on the victorious North team, Marmolejos showed his open court speed and his abilty to knock down shots out of the pick and roll, especially from the top of the key. A right-hand dominant scorer, Marmolejos lived in the lane and got to the foul line regularly.

[player_tooltip player_id="971229" first="Camden" last="McCormick"], 6-3 G, Francis Parker

The lefty combo guard had a solid game showcasing what he does best: passing the ball unselfishly in the halfcourt (a number of nice drive-and-kick assists) and transition, moving without the ball and sprinting in transition for easy baskets, rebounding the ball and initiating transition and scoring tough buckets in the half court off of change of pace dribbles.
