Passion Region Kick Off Day 1 17U Backcourt Standouts

2022 6-4 G [player_tooltip player_id="1161430" first="Eric" last="Parnell"] – Palm Beach All-Star Flames
After impressing me last summer, [player_tooltip player_id="1161430" first="Eric" last="Parnell"] has picked up where he left off. This season Parnell helped lead his Holy Trinity team to a Final Four alongside [player_tooltip player_id="1161395" first="Theo" last="Mansell"] and has the Flames off and running to start the circuit. Eric is a high IQ guard with a well-rounded floor game. He’s a dangerous three-level scorer that lets his offense come without forcing anything. Parnell does a nice job getting to his spots in the mid-range and is a smart facilitator. Parnell posted 13 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal in the blowout win.

2023 6-0 G Deyvin Dutta – Nassau Elite 1
Once Deyvin Dutta saw one jumper drop, more piled in. The shooter dropped in a game-high 22 points, scoring over half of his team’s 43. Dutta drilled four threes, burning the defense from the corner. Deyvin showed an ability to put the ball on the floor to finish with floaters and layups.

2022 5-11 G Chris Washington – No Sleep Sports
The vocal lefty was the spark No Sleep needed to knock off Nassau Elite 2 after trailing by six at the half. Washington provided rugged play and energy that helped No Sleep win 50/50 balls. Chris was a bull rebounding the ball, earning second chances and scoring through fouls. His presence was felt as an on-ball defender. Washington tallied 16 points – 13 in the second half, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 4 steals, doing a little bit of everything.

2024 5-9 PG [player_tooltip player_id="1163417" first="Deiondre" last="McDonald"] – No Sleep Sports
The young bowling ball point guard helped set the tone with 12 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. He sank an early pull-up three before attacking off the dribble. His strength is tough to deal with at the guard position.

2022 5-8 PG [player_tooltip player_id="1164182" first="Kevin" last="Odom"] – OTOD
OTOD loves to play fast and use their 2-2-1 press to dictate tempo. Floor general [player_tooltip player_id="1164182" first="Kevin" last="Odom"] had a field day in OTOD’s 97-77 tournament opening win recording 16 points, 5 rebounds, 11 assists, 4 steals and 1 block. Odom is a quick playmaker with great bounce. He elevates to finish at the rim and collect rebounds. Aside from his athleticism, it was his court vision that impressed most, always finding the open man. Odom is a sharp little guard that I expect to hear more from over the Spring.

2023 5-10 CG [player_tooltip player_id="1419500" first="Blake" last="Gascoigne"] – PSL Heat
I loved the effort of [player_tooltip player_id="1419500" first="Blake" last="Gascoigne"] in a PSL loss. He found a way to be involved in every play. He’s an energetic guard that is shifty in transition. He loves to slice his way to the bucket, drawing fouls in the process. He collected 17 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals.

2023 5-10 PG Javien Sapienza – PSL Heat
Another hardnosed guard, Javien Sapienza brought the fight till the final buzzer. He scored in a variety of ways, drilling a pair of threes to go with his crafty finishes inside. Sapienza tacked on 14 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals.

2023 5-10 G [player_tooltip player_id="1164267" first="Adrian" last="Moss"] – Team Angermgmt 2
Built like a running back, [player_tooltip player_id="1164267" first="Adrian" last="Moss"] is a power-packed guard that gets into the teeth of the defense. He’s a fast twitch athlete that shifts gears seamlessly. Moss is explosive downhill and is a pesky defender that can pick off passes and also get up under ball handlers. He had 5 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 5 steals.

2023 6-0 PG Ty Owens – Athletes of Influence 2023 Woods
Smooth guard that creates offense off the dribble. Does a good job of making space and getting free for his jumper. Can break his man down and get others involved. Tight handle.
