Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) is back to its normal form. The EYBL will have four sessions before ending it off with the championship tournament, Peach Jam. The first stop was in Orlando this past weekend where the two Florida EYBL teams were able to face off against each other in a tight matchup. The Florida Rebels were able to gain the EYBL bragging rights in the state of Florida vs Nightrydas Elite winning 61-52. Here are which prospects stood out to me in this game.

[player_tooltip player_id="962495" first="Kjei" last="Parker"] (2023) | 6-1 PG/SG| Bartow High School/Nighrydas Elite

Don’t let his height fool you, [player_tooltip player_id="962495" first="Kjei" last="Parker"] can ball. Parker’s ability to shoot from deep is what stands out the most. He has a very pure and smooth form. He also is capable of creating space with the ball allowing him to knockdown a step back three. His pace of the game is very controlled and is never rushed. This style of play along with his shot granted him 21 points on Sunday.

[player_tooltip player_id="709259" first="Sam" last="Walters"] (2023)| 6-9 F| The Villages High School/Florida Rebels

Development has been key for the 6-9 forward [player_tooltip player_id="709259" first="Sam" last="Walters"]. After playing high school basketball with Montverde Academy and also The Villages High School, it was clear that sam is starting to develop more as a forward. His length makes him a rebounding and also foul threat down low. Walters’ plays with continuous and effort with an understanding of the game. The rising senior recently earned an offer from Virginia Tech following EYBL session one.

[player_tooltip player_id="709236" first="Jayden" last="Hastings"] (2023)| 6-9 C| Orlando Christian Prep/Nightrydas Elite

A strong and lengthy Center, [player_tooltip player_id="709236" first="Jayden" last="Hastings"] is excellent in the paint. He has a lot of upsize and potential to gather more skill to his game. The 6’9 center is also very strong and is great at anticipating blocks on defense.

[player_tooltip player_id="709255" first="Sean" last="Stewart"] (2023)| 6-8 W/F| Windermere High School/Florida Rebels

It is hard not to mention [player_tooltip player_id="709255" first="Sean" last="Stewart"] after watching this game. Stewart obtained a double double with 13 points and 16 rebounds. The Duke commit posses great rebounding ability and does it with heart. Stewart has a very high season and a chance to develop even more versatility.

[player_tooltip player_id="814920" first="Fabio" last="Basili"] (2023)| 6-4 G| Oak Ridge High School/ Florida Rebels

Basili is a super quick and fast guard. The 6-4 rising senior complements his fast playing style with his craftiness. This makes him a difficult player to guard and stay in front of for defenders with his quick first step.

[player_tooltip player_id="955591" first="Justin" last="Johnson"] (2023)| 6-8 G| Doral Academy/ Nightrydas Elite

This big guard out of Miami Florida is oozing with upside. His length and skill makes him an ultimate threat being a guard. He can create his own shot and also score contact. Johnson ended with 11 points and 5 assists.

Jizzle James (2023)| 6’1 PG| Olympia High School/ Florida Rebels

Jizzle James stock continues to rise every time he steps on the court. The point guard plays at a very high pace constantly wanting to push and facilitate. His motor on the court gives him potential to be a major threat as a lockdown defender. In three out of four games, the rising senior scored in double digits and had 4+ assists.
