SubscribeMansfield, Texas — The Prep Hoops Next Lonestar State Showdown consists of a wide margin of talent that filled the gym and produced various high-scoring games. Here we take a look at some of the top-performing and top-scoring prospects of the day.
Jonathan Rodriguez | Point Guard | Dallas, TX | AKR Texas Summitt / Vols Elite 2028
This kid was an absolute blur that did everything at top speed, even when passing, he zipped the ball through tight closing windows and still managed to get the ball into his teammate’s shooting pocket. Rodriguez has 101 moves in his arsenal that made him simply unguardable in one-on-one situations, any time he sized his man up with between the legs crossover dribbles he looked to blow by to the rack next where he was guaranteed to score.
Damarion Lee | Center | Bentonville, AR | Next Page Force 2027
The top rim protector of the day has got to be 6-foot-2-inch, Damarion Lee. This Arkansas native was a threat to block any shot in his vicinity, even when you think you have him beat he comes up from behind to challenge the shot. Lee utilized his length to shut off passes to and through the paint picking a hand full of deflections by staying wide, active, and alert at all times. Damarion also proved to be a great defensive rebounder that always puts a body on the closet man and beats everyone off the floor to the ball.
Josiah Jenkins | Guard | Fort Worth, TX | #TeamRyanBennet
Josiah Jenkins went off and played like a mad man with a refuse to lose mentality, his amazing effort, undeniable penetration, and electrifying energy not only kept his team in the game but it also sent the game into overtime before falling short of the victory with just seconds remaining while facing off against Texas Grind. Jenkins was impressively explosive on the attack, particularly with his left hand which he loved to penetrate with before drawing contact. He also showed the capability to finish with both hands using great body control along with the amazing ability to change his motions in mid-air to make tough off-balance shots.
Soane Hola | Forward/Center | Euless, TX | Team Ferrari 2028
6-foot postman, Soane Hola set the tone for Team Ferrari with his presence down low. Hola was in complete control of the glass all day long, he had stints where he grabbed multiple offensive rebounds in a row, giving his squad second, third, and fourth chance scoring opportunities.
Jashon Morinia | Point Guard | South Valley, NM | ABC Spotlight 2029
Jashon Morinia ran all over the floor looking to get sneaky steals from behind, he even had a deceptive way of baiting ball-handlers into throwing the ball into his passing lane, his pressure and anticipation kept opposing teams from crossing half-court on several occasions. On the offensive end, Morinia displayed speed and quickness that got him into the paint at will and once inside he quickly went up with a floater if the defense decided to step up but if they stayed at bay he took the extra dribble to get the lay-in.
