The games were tough, the pressure on both ends was high-level and individual prospects were showcasing what they will bring to the next level of hoops.
Take a look at the guys who caught my eye as being the clear Game Changers on winning over the weekend at Lonestar State Showdown.
Kason Buie | Southern Assault select 2029
Buie is a speed demon in the open court. His ability to evade pressure from defenders was top-notch. His floor general mentality was a calming presence for Southern Assault. His crafty guard play allowed him to use the defense’s aggression against them. His artful play made for a fluid offense.
Eric Melendez | ABC Spotlight 2029
Melendez commanded a lot of pressure from opponents consistently. He combated this pressure with; shifty ball-handling, making the reads that resulted in scores, and timely attacks that got him a basket or to the free-throw line. His “never-give-up” attitude was contagious for ABC Spotlight.
Garrison Pitts | Team Ferrari 2028
Pitts had a patient presence that resulted in the fluid offense for Team Ferrari. His steady shooting and shifty handle created scoring opportunities consistently. His silky shooting and ability to remain upbeat under pressure were on display throughout the Lonestar State Showdown.
Dorian Johanson I Texas Grind 2029
Johanson’s length and motor made for a fast pace identity for Texas Grind. His vigilant play in transition made for easy scores and a tight grip on the momentum. He was at his best filling the lanes in transition and scoring before the defense could get settled.
Jagger Blockburger | AAO Flight 2028
Blockburger was a problem for opponents as a; one-man fastbreak, a menace on the ball causing steals and loose balls, and a relentless need for the ball on the glass. His gritty mentality and physical gifts were inspiring for AAO Flight. He led vocally and with his actions as well.
