Big Men Make NWAC Choices

In this article:
The NWAC (Northwest Athletic Conference) has been a viable option for high school basketball players for many years and that’s certainly the case with the Class of 2022. Signings have started to take place with member schools and recently three big men made their decisions and committed to start their college careers and continue their development at the JC level.
Of the three,

is the tallest at 6-foot-10 and has committed to Tacoma CC. The Westview senior had his season cut short due to injury but before he got hurt he had been a solid contributor for the Wildcats, averaging 4.1 points and 5.3 rebounds. Sinai is a mobile big man with developing skills whose best playing days are ahead of him, and Tacoma pursued him early on in the process. They stuck with him even after the injury and it’s that connection that led to Sinai’s eventual commitment.
"He kept showing interest and reaching out to me, and then followed through and offered me my first scholarship that I decided to accept," Sinai said. "The opportunity to be coached by him is something that I really liked. He was a former D-I coach and has a great mindset when it comes to coaching. He also has the experience and the connections for me to take my career further. I feel like he will turn me into a more versatile player and I’ll be able to use my athleticism outside of the paint."
Portland Community College went big with their first couple of signings and 6-foot-9

certainly fits that bill. The Lake Oswego senior may have only averaged 1.2 points and 1.3 rebounds in limited minutes this past season, largely due to injury, but has the kind of upside that intrigued head coach Tony Broadous and his staff. Bacci runs the floor well, can finish at the rim, and has potential as a shot-blocker on the defensive end.
"I knew I wanted to stay local and go the JUCO route," Bacci said. "I found PCC and they have the academic courses I want to take and have a great basketball program. I can see myself being a good wing and post player (for them), good on the ball and post defense as well."
PCC also picked up the signature of

, who at 6-foot-7 is also a player in that he can score both inside and out. Despite battling some injuries, he led Hillsboro in scoring and rebounding this past season and his versatility attracted the attention of college programs at a number of different levels. When it all broke down for him, he really appreciated the attention he got from the Panthers coaching staff and in the end that was the best fit.
"I felt very welcome and important to their program this next coming season along with helping me through my college career and develop further," Jackson said. "I was welcomed to check out a game and I loved the gym and coaching style and energy of the team and every coach. That was the biggest turning factor to help me decide ultimately where I wanted to go next year."
The PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2022 rankings currently have Jackson placed at #52, Bacci at #61, and Sinai at #92. Our congratulations go out to all three and their families on their decisions.
