13/14U Victory in the Valley Standouts: Post players

Victory in the Valley kicked off this weekend here in Gilbert Arizona at Inspire Courts. There were ballers everywhere you turned but here’s who stood out to me…Post players.

Izayah Cook (In set) | Uptempo Elite Ignite

Cook is playing up this weekend (his entire squad is) at victory in the Valley. This 13 year old is mature beyond his age and his game shows it. He has soft hands, great footwork and a soft touch inside. Rebounds well in traffic and a great free throw shooter.

Hugh Tarpenning  | PLUTO Prospects
Has a nice post game that’ll expand with work. Rebounds well on both ends of the floor and a excellent help side defender that erases shots. Soft hands and can finish through contact. Really impressed me.

Lleyton Leonard | Uptempo Hoops

Leonard is still raw but he’s only 13years old. Long and athletic and oozing with potential. Can finish in transition and is a rim protector. Post game is limited right now but he has great coaches so he’ll get better. Upside is bright.

Raz Smith | TNT Hoops

Smith has a very nice all around game. A bit under sized but his skill set makes up for that. Can finish with both hands, exceptional passer and can make outside shots. Good at making space which makes him a decent rebounder. 

Eli Hughes | Triple Threat Colorado

Another raw post with a long frame. Has a decent post game with good feet and hands. Good post and help side defender. This kid lives on the glass on both ends. Just needs to be more assertive.

Jack Coauette | Team FSA

High motor player with a high basketball IQ. Uses leverage to his advantage on offense and defense. Can finish inside amongst taller players and also has a nice jump shot in his repertoire. Always plays hard, always plays to win.
