Brock Mishak Brock Mishak 6'3" Fossil Ridge | 2022 CO — Fossil Ridge
Mishak is undoubtedly a bucket. We do not have many players that are willing to go at you for the entirety of the game and give the defense fits from start to finish. He is aggressive offensively as a downhill scorer, knocks down the 3-ball, and also everything in between. This 3-level scorer proved to be one of the state’s best and after finishing as a 5A state runner-up season, it was obvious to others how special of a player he is. He is a leader that is willing to take the tough shot, finds others and compete on both ends. He reached 1,000 points in only three seasons, which is a bit different than anyone else on this list and his accomplishment came the game after winning on a buzzer-beater. He will compete at West Texas A&M next season, one of the best DII teams in the country. I expect him to do a bit of what he has always done — dominate and win.
Dominic Marrujo Dominic Marrujo 5'8" Prairie View | 2022 CO — Prairie View
Marrujo was a consistent scorer that we got the pleasure of watching for his 4-year varsity career. Marrujo was oftentimes the smallest player on the court but judging by his production, it did not matter. Marrujo is a creative scorer that can score in ISO situations, is lethal off of the pick and roll and improved immensely as a passer. Him being a better playmaker over the years allowed the rest of his game to come easier but he still was able to put the ball in the basket. Marrujo improved as a scorer every season averaging 10.8 points as a sophomore, 12.8 points as a sophomore, 13.9 points as a junior and then a jump to 18.9 points a game as a senior. Marrujo is a player that can play at the next level and he joins the 1,000 points scored group, one he should be proud about.
Jackson Keil Jackson Keil 6'1" | CG Sterling | 2022 State CO — Sterling
Keil was one of the state’s best two-way options and his progression as a player through the last couple of seasons shows how special of a player he is. Keil went from a glue guy that made all of the smart and hustle plays for one of the best teams in the state as he was an underclassman to being the focal point of the offense his junior and senior season. Keil led his team to another winning season as he put up 22.1 points a game including an explosive offensive run of 45 points and 42 points in back-to-back playoff games. He did everything for the Tigers but the offense was the difference as he became the 6th player in school history with such an accomplishment.
Duke Benson Duke Benson 6'3" | SF Kent Denver | 2022 State CO — Kent Denver
Duke Buckets!
We have been calling for more eyes to be on Benson and for another season, every team that he played against at the 3A level got to see the type of competitor that he is. Benson competes on both ends of the floor and what he lacks in skill he makes up for in effort and that is how you force yourself into being the 4th 1000-point scorer in school history. Benson is a three-year starter that averaged 19 points a game in his junior and senior seasons and he helped his team pick up some much-needed victories.
Cesar Hinojos Cesar Hinojos 6'1" | CG Brush | 2022 State CO — Brush
Hinojos is the best scorer that you have never heard of. He was Brush’s only player on the season that averaged double-digits in scoring. The 6’1 guard put up 17.7 points a game in his senior year and that is while also averaging 11 rebounds a game as well. Hinojos had all attention on him and still managed a way to not only score with ease but carry his team to a few victories off of his efforts alone. He picked apart defenses by getting to his spots, he is aggressive offensively and stays don’t he attack and had a solid career with the Beetdiggers.
