<p>We had a lot of transfers before the season began. I recall viewing one on my social media feed almost every day. That’s just how it is in the competitive landscape of South Florida basketball.</p>
<p>Many of these players had a significant impact for their new teams. Moreover, they helped push them to deep playoff runs.</p>
<p>Which were some of the best?</p>
<p>[player_tooltip player_id="1065431" first="Michael" last="Kalina"] - North Broward Prep</p>
<p>2022 [player_tooltip player_id="1065431" first="Michael" last="Kalina"] was a superstar after transferring from Boca Raton. The 6-foot-1 guard helped North Broward Prep to a 27-3 record. The Eagles also started 23-0 under Kalina’s command. He averaged 10.6 points, 4.6 assists and 4.1 rebounds per game while shooting 49 percent from the floor. Kalina scored a season-high 22 points and grabbed nine boards against Sagemont. He also scored 19 points while shooting 8-of-13 from the field against Riviera Prep. Overall, Kalina scored in double-figures in 17 contests. He also dished out six or more assists in 12 games.</p>
<p>[player_tooltip player_id="709256" first="Jamai" last="Hager-Tejada"] - Miami Northwestern</p>
<p>2023 [player_tooltip player_id="709256" first="Jamai" last="Hager-Tejada"] took his game to the Bulls after playing for Mater Lakes Academy. The 5-foot-11 combo guard averaged 14.2 points while shooting 47 percent from the field. He also made three or more 3-pointers in seven contests. Against Carol City, Hager-Tejada scored a season-high 25 points while grabbing five boards. Overall, he scored in double-figures in 17 contests. Hager-Tejada helped Miami Northwestern to a 17-4 record under head coach Melvin Randall.</p>
<p>[player_tooltip player_id="1161407" first="Adrian" last="Cruz"] - Sagemont</p>
<p>2022 [player_tooltip player_id="1161407" first="Adrian" last="Cruz"] had a prolific season after moving on from Miami Southwest. The 6-foot-3 guard propelled Sagemont to a 25-7 record and spot in the 2A championship final. Cruz averaged 19.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game. He also went 50-of-126 (40 percent) from deep. Cruz dropped a season-high 32 points and hit four 3-pointers while shooting 10-of-19 overall from the field against Mater Lakes Academy. He also scored 28 points and dished out eight assists against 5A state champion Stranahan. Overall, Cruz scored in double-figures in 27 of 29 contests.</p>
<p>[player_tooltip player_id="1055700" first="Braylon" last="Burbridge"] - Miami Palmetto</p>
<p>2024 [player_tooltip player_id="1055700" first="Braylon" last="Burbridge"] is developing into a nice guard. The 6-foot-1 Burbridge averaged 8.4 points, 4.2 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 2.2 steals for the Panthers. Burbridge played his freshman season at Sagemont. He dished out six or more assists in nine games. Against North Miami, Burbridge grabbed a season-high nine boards while adding ten points and seven assists.</p>
<p>[player_tooltip player_id="1055732" first="Reece" last="Randolph"] - Chaminade-Madonna</p>
<p>2024 [player_tooltip player_id="1055732" first="Reece" last="Randolph"] put up some impressive offensive performances for Chaminade-Madonna. The 5-foot-9 guard dropped 34 points and hit five 3-pointers while shooting 13-of-25 from the floor against Archbishop McCarthy. Against St. Andrew’s, Randolph scored 28 points on 9-of-19 from the field. He also finished with 27 and hit four 3-pointers against 22-7 St. Brendan. Randolph played his freshman season at Stranahan.</p>
