Many times clubs are formed out of necessity and they not only turn into something great for these young men involved but for the community as well. Whittier Bulldog Basketball seems to be a local club that is developing young talent and they are playing well every time they get to the next level.

How long have you guys been around as a program?

We have been around since 2013.

What was the reason for starting the program?

When my son was in kindergarten, my wife signed up my first born to play in a recreational league in Whittier called NJB (National Junior Basketball) in 2012. The coach would come late or not show up to practice so the parents got tired of it and  volunteered the dads to take over! A year later I took over and started my own team with a group of all my sons friends in his grade at his school! That lead to testing the water in travel ball. Fast forward 10 years later we have travel ball teams ranging from 8U-16U for boys and 3 girl teams 10U-14U.

What do you look to accomplish with your players?

We are looking to prepare them to get to the high school level.

What is the foundation of your team?

The foundation of the team is to teach my kids basketball and life lessons on and off the court. Player development is also an  important aspect about our club. We also stress that our club is one big family.
