A lot of these kids were getting their first looks on the high school court. Some got experience as eight graders and beyond. Still, many of these names are under the radar. I will avoid some of the high-profile names as many South Florida fans already know the top players in this class.
Let’s look into the list…
Isaac Mothersill – Chaminade-Madonna
Mothersill got some playing time for the Lions this season. Per information, the 5-foot-10 shooting guard averaged 9.4 points, two boards and two assists while shooting 41 percent from the floor. He also shot 36 percent from deep so he has some range. Updated statistics would probably increase all of those numbers. Regardless, Mothersill has scoring ability and a growing frame. Against St. Andrew’s, he scored 14 points and knocked down two 3-pointers while shooting four-of-seven overall from the field. He averaged over 14 points per game at Avante Garde Academy as an eight grader. Overall, Mothersill has a solid foundation of experience to develop under.
Javian Jones – The King’s Academy
A Palm Beach prospect to watch is Javian Jones. The 6-foot freshman guard averaged 10.7 points and 4.2 assists per game while shooting 47 percent from the floor. Jones is also a great rebounder and defender. He helped King’s Academy to a 20-7 record. I think he should be in for a big-time spring/summer before his sophomore season.
Malachi Martis – Calvary Christian Academy
An offer from St. John’s is going to give you some momentum. Martis is a 6-foot-5 guard on one of the best teams in Florida. Furthermore, he gets to practice with a team full of D-1 recruits. Martis’ ceiling is very high given his size in the backcourt. He has a strong handle and is only developing into his frame.
Marcus Perrier – Cardinal Gibbons
Marcus Perrier played on a talented Cardinal Gibbons team that went 20-7 overall. The 6-foot-3 forward averaged 6.2 points and 5.5 rebounds while shooting 45 percent from the floor. Moreover, Perrier shot 37 percent from deep in limited attempts. He will likely grow and develop a more repetitive shot over the summer. Perrier already has the length to rebound and can put the ball on the floor. I like his upside.
Aiden Reid – Miami Country Day
Reid has shown some potential when given the opportunity. Against South Miami, the 5-foot-8 guard scored seven points while shooting 3-of-5 from the floor. Reid also grabbed four or more rebounds in three games and dished out 23 assists. He played in 20 games and nearly 200 minutes, so he has some experience. Miami Country Day is a good great team if Reid can work his way into more playing time.
