SubscribeOne of the most recent programs to sign up for the Prep Hoops Next Circuit is a group from Dallas, TX called Prep Starz. Prep Starz was founded by Brandon Stephens and is gearing up to try and become one of the top teams on the circuit this upcoming year.
“We have a really solid group of kids,” Stephens told Prep Hoops Next. “I am trying to show a lot of people the unseen talent from where we are in Texas. I want these kids from Dallas to really show what they have to offer because I truly believe I have some of the top talent in the city. I think Prep Hoops has a great platform so I really want these kids to be seen on that platform.”
Stephens gave us a quick rundown on some prospects that different scouts should have their eyes on when watching Prep Starz.
David Ventura Jr: “He is more of an all around player standing at 6’0. He currently goes to Byrd Middle School which is the feeder school for Duncanville which is one of the top high school programs in the country for basketball. This kid is a high level kid that is very selfless. He is going to be a great college prospect one day.”
Brandon Stephens Jr: Stevens is a long 8th grader that is about 6’2. He is a very strong rebounder, he plays the game the right way and is another very selfless player. He is very active on both ends, he can shoot the ball but also handle the ball when needed. He is another player that has a high ceiling.”
Donavon Scott: “He is a late bloomer that is developing into one of the explosive young small guards that is very quick, he can play above the rim, he is very crafty and can finish well in contact. He is continuing to work on different parts of his game where he can play a big role in a game besides scoring.”
Stephens is very excited about being on the PHN Circuit this year and has some goals he wants to accomplish.
“The biggest goal for me is to just go out and try and win it all. I want to make a name for ourselves and my kids. I want them to be seen by some of the top tier scouts and have people put some respect on their name because they have been in the gym working hard.”
