Anthony Black Anthony Black 6'7" | PG Duncanville | 2022 State #10 Nation TX 6’8 2022 Duncanville High School (6A MVP)
Antony is one of the most skilled prospects in all of Texas. The 6’8 wing is fluid, can score at all three levels and is a special scorer with his back to the basket. His ability to create space out of the post and triple threat allows him to fade away from players. He has a great looking jumper with a fluid motion that he can consistently get off the dribble, at all three levels. What I have been most impressed with was his aggressiveness and willingness to live in the paint. He can destroy smaller matchups on the block and mid post, and quickly attack bigger and slower defenders off the dribble. On the break he is a monster, and uses his speed and athleticism to out run defenders on the break, with the ability to bang on anyone.
He also scores at ease with a live dribble and can attack any defense with a pick and roll. He knows how to manipulate defenses with jab steps and hesitations and is especially good at freezing defenders out of the triple threat. When the defense switches on him in the pick and roll, he easily takes any big man off the bounce and can score in the midrange or blow by him for a look at the rim. When the defense goes under the screen he simply rises up for an easy jumper. The silky smooth wing was recently selected to the McDonalds All American game and boasts offers from a bunch of top programs such as Gonzaga, Duke, Kansas, and Auburn.
Ja’Kobe Walter Ja’Kobe Walter 6'5" | SG Mckinney | 2023 #15 Nation MO 6’6 2023 McKinney High School
Ja’Kobe is a work horse at the combo guard position, who does it all from all three levels. He is an elite scorer in the lane, with an ability to get his shot up over seemingly anyone. He has a soft touch on his floater and runner in the lane, and showed consistency with his ability to score off the dribble. Whether he is dancing around his opponent and letting it fly beyond the arc, or stopping on a dime in the midrange and rising up, Walter always seems to fill it up. He has the ability to stretch the floor to the coveted fourth level with his ability to knock down further than NBA range three pointers.
His ability to score from all over the floor forces is opponents to heavily game plan for him. He is an incredibly high level rebounder for his position, he is fearless and recognizes the importance of cleaning the glass and running in transition. I am really interested to see how Walter handles the bright light of the playoffs and how far he can bring his team along!
Ron Holland Ron Holland 6'9" | PF Duncanville | 2023 State #7 Nation TX 6’8 2023 Duncanville High School
Ron is one of the many supremely talented junior’s Duncanville has to offer, the lanky wing has all the tools in his bag to dominate his opponents from all three levels on the floor. He has incredibly long arms and great athleticism, which allows him to seemingly catch any lob thrown his way. He dominates in the paint using his size, agility and athleticism to beat his opponents to a spot and rising over them to flush it with ease. I am most impressed with the consistency he finishes underneath the rim, it does not always need to be a thunderous dunk to get his two points. He has great body control and contort his body around defenders, and finish on either side of the rim.
He is great at hanging around in the dunkers spot on the floor and waiting for his time to flash to the rim and seal off his defender for an easy look. He runs the floor with purpose as well, always seems to be in the right spot and not crowing his guards as they race up the floor. His consistent rim running ability allows him to easily pick up buckets in transition. The way that this team passes the ball on the fast break looks like a fluid college level program and it allows Holland to get effortless looks at the rim almost every time down. The 6’8 junior already boasts offers from Kansas, Arkansas, Texas, and Memphis.
Jaden Greathouse Jaden Greathouse 6'3" | PG Austin Westlake | 2023 TX 6’4 2023 Austin Westlake High School
Jaden is an athletic force on both ends of the floor. It is not hard to find this elite dual sport athlete on the court, his broad shoulders allow him to fight through contact and consistently finish in the lane. His ability to get to the rim when he puts his head down and rise up and finish with ease with either hand allows him to be an elite offensive weapon. He is patient in the paint and has an array of post moves to bully smaller defenders with. He is explosive out of the triple threat and always seems to have a step on his opponents, he is great at turning the corner and getting into the paint or stopping on a dime and rising up in the space he created. Most of his opponents seemed scared to square up and really put their chest in front of him, which allowed him to live at the free throw line as well.
He is an aggressive player on both sides of the floor, who rebounds the ball at a very high level. He is active on the offensive glass, which allows him to get easy second chance points. He is great at turning defensive rebounds into offensive opportunities for his team with his ability to push the pace after skying for a rebound. Greathouse is a dynamic athlete who is willing to defend, even when he is tired. He is agile and can move his feet to keep his defender in front of him with ease.
Davion Sykes Davion Sykes 6'6" | SG Duncanville | 2022 State TX 6’7 2022 Duncanville High School
Davion is a supremely athletic wing who does all of the little things to help Duncanville win, his intensity when defending his opponents seems to always force them to dribble off their own foot or turn the ball over. He has long arms and plays the game with a real tenacity. He is a consistent finisher on the fast break and always seems to finish every look at the rim, even as he is attacking the cup at full speed. He is a great rebounder for his size, and has no problem doing the dirty work and banging down low with larger forwards to snatch any opportunity.
He is also great off the ball, and always seems to be moving and lulling his defender to sleep. His consistent motion and ability to dominate on the block is incredibly impressive. It is clear Sykes has a high basketball IQ and working within this Duncanville system has done tremendous things for his development as a basketball player. Sykes is going to form a real one-two punch over at Texas State next year with the supremely athletic Shawn Jones of Shadow Creek High School.
