SubscribeEdmond, Oklahoma — The Prep Hoops Next Southwest Kick Off, hosted at The Hive, brought some of the best rising talents out of Arkansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. The competition was competitive and high scoring for all ages, these prospects brought an abundance of intensity and energy from day to day. Here we’ll take a look at a few of the most effective effort guy and glue guy standouts that made major contributions and game-changing plays throughout the weekend.
Dreyden Montgomery | Guard/Forward | Albuquerque, NM | ABC Spotlight 2027
Phenomenal effort guy that constantly found a way to impact the game one way or another. A true basketball player that isn’t held to any specific position, he’s an excellent two-way asset with versatility on the offensive end and the capability of defending on the perimeter as well as in the post on the defensive end. Great awareness, particularly on the offensive side of the ball where he showed a terrific talent for playing off of the ball due to his eye for spotting holes in the defense which always landed him in the right spot for the ball to come directly to him. Mid-range Assasin, Montgomery was a threat to put the ball in the hole almost anywhere inside the arc, picking teams apart from 12 feet out often receiving a pass at the free-throw line before working his way inside or knocking it down from the elbow. Dreyden Montgomery proved to be an extremely active and productive individual with a love for crashing the glass on each play and competing for loose balls out his vicinity.
Christian Williams | Forward/Post | Little Rock, AR | Next Page Force 2027
All-around competitor with an unwavering motor. He snatched down rebounds off the glass relentlessly and ferociously, he got down and dirty for loose balls, played the passing lanes, and took charges that changed the outcome of the game, Christian Williams gave his team everything he had from beginning to end. Great hands on catches and rebounds in the post, Williams also displayed a soft touch and some explosiveness under the basket, Williams generated so much power on the way up that allowed it him to draw and finish through contact and over traffic on a play to play basis. When you watch Christian Williams play you will notice the combination of athleticism, power, strength, and controlled physicality that he competes with.
Stellar Kendrick | Post | Albuquerque, NM | ABC Spotlight 2028
Stellar Kendrick contributed to his team with his great screen setting, not only did his picks open his teammate up for the drive or the jumpshot but it also left Kendrick open on countless occasions after rolling to the basket, The 2028 prospect made good use of his size and strength when positioning himself on both the pick and roll. Stellar Kendrick took pride in his role on the team and he did it effectively, this kid played with a true team-first mentality.
Evan Adjam | Forward | Bentonville, AR | Arkansas Athletes Outreach 2029
Evan Adjam is a glue guy with a great competitive spirit. somebody eager to do all of the dirty work, go for every rebound, and fight for every 50/50 ball. Very unselfish willing to make the extra pass. Evan Adjam was such an impactful, super active, highly productive player, with a limitless motor. Adjam consistently let his defense lead him into his offense, rebounding, jumping passes, blocking shots, and instantly taking off down court for the outlet layup, showing a knack for making plays and outrunning everyone from end to end.
Jaxon Porter | Post | West Fork, AR | Arkansas Athletes Outreach 2029
Jaxon Porter quickly caught my eye as a hustle player and a standout rebounder that cleaned up the mess on the offensive end and produced extra scoring opportunities. Porter even had a few tip-ins and put-backs all thanks to his great positioning when boxing out and excellent timing for where the ball would bounce off the rim. Jaxon Porter played with great energy and a relentless motor, giving an extreme amount of effort to get a hand on every loose ball whether it was out of bounds or out of reach Porter was ready and willing to sacrifice his body to save it.
