One of the best things about the end of the season is the announcement of all-league teams around the state. Those awards are trickling out now, and they bring to light names that flew under the Prep Hoops radar.

Here are a few guys who are earning some recognition at the end of the season:

Sid Duplessis, 5-foot-10 guard, 2022, Salina Central:

A transfer this season who really grew throughout the season, no one at Prep Hoops Kansas had any idea who Duplessis was a few months ago. He had a huge 29-point game against Newton in the play-in to substate. A quick guard who can really shoot from deep, Duplessis averaged 18.1 points in his only season at Salina Central to earn first-team AV-CTL Div. 2

Jesse Jones, 5-foot-9 guard, 2023, Parson:

The point guard was mentioned on the first team of the Southeast Kansas League. Jones averaged 15.7 points per game as a junior.

Cole Lacey, 6-foot-2 forward, 2022, Marais des Cygnes Valley:

Lacey was named second team on the Lyon County League team. Not much by way of stats is out about Lacey’s basketball season. But he’s a multi-sport star who earned all-league in football in the fall.

Harrison Middleton, guard, 2022, Cheney:

Cheney had the misfortune of having to play the best 3A team in the state in sub-state. They went into the playoffs ranked #1, but didn’t make the trip to Hutchinson because of a loss to the Swathers. Middleton was a dynamic shooter for the Cardinals, who is also a top golfer. A player who didn’t get on Prep Hoops Kansas’ radar this year, Middleton earned First Team Central Plains league.

[player_tooltip player_id="1195610" first="Trent" last="Parke"], 6-foot-2 guard, 2022, Derby (pictured):

Parke was so good last summer that he was added to the Prep Hoops 2022 rankings, though he he’d been a reserve at Derby. Parke earned second-team all AV-CTL Div. 1 without putting up impressive stats. That just tells you what a solid ball handler, facilitator, defender and leader Parke is. He played a key reserve role last year, and his role grew when [player_tooltip player_id="891900" first="Fontaine" last="Williams"] left the team mid-season. The quick and smooth guard produced 8.1 points and 4.6 boards this year.
