Continue ReadingThe state tournament is really heating up with sectional finals looming around the corner. New Egypt and Keyport were fighting for a spot in the Central Jersey Group 1 final as the Red Raiders prevailed 67-53. Here are the top impact performers from the New Egypt-Keyport semifinal game.
DJ Thomson DJ Thomson 6'3" | PG Keyport | 2022 State NJ , 6’4 CG Keyport 2022
Thomson was efficient throughout the game as the Warriors could not stop him. The East Stroudsburg commit was able to get into the lane consistently and drew contact around the basket. Thomson finished nicely around the basket and did not force many shots in half court. He skied for rebounds on both ends of the floor and pushed the pace nicely. Thomson has been electric for Keyport all season and should continue to do so in the sectional final on Tuesday.
Devin Kimmick Devin Kimmick 6'3" | SG New Egypt | 2023 State NJ , 6’3 SG New Egypt 2023
Kimmick carried the offense all game for the Warriors as he had a game-high 30 points. The 6’3 guard shot the ball with confidence from distance and has a quick release on his jumper. Kimmick moved exceptionally well off the ball, creating open layups and jumpers for himself. He used his handle to get into the lane and was able to get to the line throughout the game. Kimmick’s shooting ability is something that will help his stock in a big way as he looks to lead the way for New Egypt next season.
George Mitchell George Mitchell 6'6" | PF Keyport | 2022 State NJ , 6’6 PF Keyport 2022
Mitchell did a little bit of everything for the Red Raiders as he impacted the game in multiple ways. The 6’6 forward brought the crowd to its feet with an emphatic two-handed jam that resulted in an and-1. Mitchell brought the ball up the floor at times and made good passes throughout the game. He was all over the glass at both ends of the floor and used his size to draw contact around the basket. Mitchell is a versatile forward prospect who does what it takes to help Keyport win games.
Adam Harris Adam Harris 6'0" | PG New Egypt | 2022 State NJ , 6’0 PG New Egypt 2022
Harris did not have a big game scoring for the Warriors, but he was the one who drove the offense. The 6’0 guard has a nice handle, which he used to create separation and get into the paint. Harris made smart passes to beat Keyport’s press, including a beautiful chest pass in transition early in the game. He jumped passing lanes on the defensive end and moved his feet well. Harris had a solid career at New Egypt with his ability to get into the lane and make plays.
Nahsirr Hart, 6’5 SF/PF Keyport 2025
Hart may have been the youngest player on the floor, but he was still able to make an impact throughout the game. The 6’5 forward was a force on the glass as the Warriors had trouble boxing him out. Hart used his length to impact shots on the defensive end and moved well without the ball. He knocked down a long jumper early in the second half, showing the potential to knock down jumpers on the perimeter. Hart is an intriguing freshman prospect to watch due to his combination of size, length and athleticism.
