One of the more underrated stats in basketball is rebounds. Teams that rebound well, normally have success in games. The following players were the best in the state at rebounding the ball.

First- Jacob Gallop, 6’5", Sr. | Gallop was highlighted on my list of the top scorers in Florida, and he headlines the rankings for rebounds per game. The senior averaged nearly 17 rebounds per game. You know a player is special when they are top 3 in points per game and number 1 in rebounds per game.

Second- Chris Lajza, 6’0", Sr. | Lajza barely trailed Gallop, averaging 16.7 rebounds per game. This is incredible, mainly because the senior only stands at 6’0" tall, making it more difficult to rebound over taller opponents.

Third- [player_tooltip player_id="814931" first="Matthew" last="Webster"], 6’8", Sr. | Webster averaged 14.6 boards for Carrollwood Day. He grabbed a total of 380 rebounds this year, which puts him tied for third in that category.

Fourth- Michiah Hagan, Jr. | Hagan averaged 14.5 rebounds this year for the Panthers of Foundation Christian Academy. Only a junior, Hagan could see himself at the top of the leaderboard next year.

Fifth- Ricardo Corvil, 6’1", Jr. | Corvil averaged 14.2 rebounds per game and placed second in the state for total rebounds. He also grabbed more offensive rebounds than defensive, which is very unprecedented.

Sixth- Brian Robb, 6’3", Sr. | Robb averaged just above 14 boards per game this season. The tenacious senior was a double-double machine this year, with a special talent for crashing the glass.

Seventh- [player_tooltip player_id="962555" first="Atavious" last="Weaver"], 6’3", Sr. | Weaver is actually tied for 6th with Brian Robb, averaging 14.1 a game. Weaver has a special ability for knowing where the ball will go off of the rim.

Eighth- Demetrie Morgan, 6’6", Sr. | Demetrie is a great player and can do everything well, but his best skill is rebounding. The senior from Ft. Meyers was able to grab 13.8 rebounds per game this season.

Ninth- [player_tooltip player_id="709255" first="Sean" last="Stewart"], 6’8", Jr. | If you are familiar with Florida basketball at all, then you know the name [player_tooltip player_id="709255" first="Sean" last="Stewart"]. The Duke commit averaged 13.6 rebounds per game. It is rare when you see a player of his offensive caliber able to rebound the ball so well.

Tenth- [player_tooltip player_id="1306091" first="Jeremy" last="Elyzee"], 6’9", So. | Averaging 13.2 rebounds per game as just a sophomore is quite the accomplishment. Being in the top ten in the entire state for any stat is tough to do, but even tougher as a sophomore. Elyzee is bound to make a significant leap in his next 2 years.
