In recognition of that theme, Prep Hoops will announce a series of “Final Fours” this week.
This will be four players selected for their demonstration of a specific trait, regardless of school size and graduation class.
Here are Kansas’ Final Four Scorers (alphabetical order):
Landon Boss Landon Boss 6'1" | SF Osage City | 2023 State KS 6-foot-1 forward, 2023, Osage City:
Boss has been filling the hoop for three years at Osage City. He’s already topped the 1,000 point mark. He’s a big, powerful athlete who can battle with anyone in the paint, and he positions himself to score close to the goal. He can really hit from deep and also gets a lot of buckets in transition. He averaged 24 points per game this year.
Elijah Brooks Elijah Brooks 6'3" | CG Topeka West | 2022 State KS , 6-foot-4 guard, 2022, Topeka West:
Brooks is the epitome of a scorer. He gets shots where there don’t seem to be openings, and he’s almost automatic when he elevates for his jumper in the midrange. He gets fouled a ton because he’s superior athleticism has defenders constantly off balance. Brooks became the Chargers’ all-time leading scorer this winter, with several weeks left to pad his total. Brooks averaged at least 10 points per game for four straight seasons, and racked up 25 per game as a senior.
Britton Dutton Britton Dutton 6'0" | SG Argo Comm | 2023 State KS , 6-foo1- guard, 2023, Ellinwood:
Dutton has a silky stroke from way outside, stretching defenses to a breaking point. He can put the ball on the floor and loves the pull-up jumper. He has a killer instinct and turns defensive turnovers into a lot of runouts. Dutton is consistent, but he also has a tendency to explode for big point totals on occasion. He went for 30 or more five times this year, with a high of 43. He averaged 25 points per game this season. He’s been doing that kind of thing since his freshman year.
Mason English Mason English 6'2" | SG Pittsburg | 2024 State KS , 6-foot-2 guard, 2024, Pittsburg (pictured):
Prep Hoops scouts were blown away by what English showed last summer. The question was, would he be able to do those same things in the high school game. The answer was a resounding ‘Yes.’ English has range for days, and he’s not afraid to pull the trigger from anywhere. He has an easy shot that he can get off quickly. He is a big, physical guard who can body up in the lane and is developing his athleticism. He averaged 21 points as a sophomore.
