<p>Stars will rise come playoff time. As the district quarterfinals took place last night, some players stepped up and had big games. Let’s take a look at some of the top performances in the opening round.</p>
<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="985671" first="Noah" last="Adamczyk"] (2023, PG, Bloomfield Hills)</strong></p>
<p>Bloomfield Hills advanced to the semifinals with a 6-46 win against West Bloomfield. Adamczyk led the way with 28 points. He did it in his usual sparkplug manner, making big plays and making momentum changing buckets.</p>
<p><strong>Jayden Cleveland (2023, PG, Taylor)</strong></p>
<p>Taylor defeated Wyandotte by a score of 83-55. Cleveland was electric in the contest. He finished with 23 points, including 5 three pointers. Cleveland got it done on the defensive end as well, pressuring the ball and getting 3 steals.</p>
<p><strong>Thomas Dodd (2022, CG, Haslett)</strong></p>
<p>Haslett defeated Portland last night and Dodd came up huge in the victory. He tied for a team high 20 points. </p>
<p><strong>Zach Fairless (2022, F, Troy)</strong></p>
<p>Troy beat Warren Cousino 51-43 to advance to the next round of district play. He had a game high 22 points. If Fairless continues this level of play, Troy can make some noise.</p>
<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="986248" first="D’Angelo" last="Fitzpatrick"] (2023, SF. Haslett)</strong></p>
<p>Fitzpatrick played big in his team’s win over Portland. He scored athletically off the wing and shared the point lead in the game notching 20 on the night.</p>
<p><strong>Christian Fontaine (2024, SG, Lutheran Westland)</strong></p>
<p>Lutheran Westland defeated International American Academy by a score of 55-46. Fontaine was huge in the game, scoring an incredibly efficient 18 points off 7-10 shooting from the field.</p>
<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="983516" first="Shawn" last="James"] (2022, SF, Dearborn ATA)</strong></p>
<p>ATA advanced to the semifinals with an 83-47 win over Annapolis. James paced the squad offensively, tallying 22 points and adding 10 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. James is a huge plus with his athleticism off the wing.</p>
<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1076036" first="Eddison" last="Millington"] (2023, SF, Brighton)</strong></p>
<p>Millington was the star in a tight 52-51 Brighton win against South Lyon East. He finished with 17 points and 9 rebounds. Millington buried a clutch triple to take the lead with 8 seconds left.</p>
<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1068265" first="Bashir" last="Neely"] (2022, PG, Grand Haven)</strong></p>
<p>Grand Haven won a tough game against Reeths-Puffer by a score of 69-57. Neely was terrific in the win. He controlled the tempo when the ball was in his hands and scored an electric 30 points in the contest.</p>
<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1277369" first="Malik" last="Olafioye"] (2023, PG, Ecorse)</strong></p>
<p>Ecorse advanced to the semifinals behind a huge game from it’s superstar. Olafioye notched a double-double with 21 points and 10 boards. He also added 4 assists. He continues to show why he should be considered a top prospect nationally in the class of 2023.</p>
<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1213127" first="Javion" last="Otten"] (2023, SG, Kenowa Hills)</strong></p>
<p>Kenowas Hills moved on with a 67-54 win over Mona Shores. Otten continued to show why he’s been one of the fastest rising prospects over the last year. He’s a bona fide bucket getter and he led his team with 31 points last night.</p>
<p><strong>Larenz Smith (2023, F, Lansing Everett)</strong></p>
<p>Smith paced his team in an exciting victory over Mason. He had a game high 21 points while helping his team move on to the district semifinals.</p>
<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="902884" first="Jakhary" last="Towns"] (2023, SG, Godwin Heights)</strong></p>
<p>Towns was terrific in his team’s thrilling 87-78 overtime victory against Kelloggsville. He scored from all 3 levels, torching the nets for a game high 31 points.</p>
<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="787685" first="Kyler" last="Vanderjagt"] (2022, SG, Northview)</strong></p>
<p>Northview defeated Lowell 77-51. Vanderjagt showed why he’s a finalist for Mr. Basketball this year. He finished the contest with 20 points, 5 assists, and 4 steals.</p>
<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1349407" first="Tyler" last="VanEtten"] (2022, SG, Lenawee Christian)</strong></p>
<p>Lenawee Christian was victorious in the first round against Waldron. VanEtten paced his team with 20 points. His veteran leadership shouldn’t be overlooked as well.</p>
<p><strong>Greg Wilkinson (2022, PF, Fowlerville)</strong></p>
<p>Fowlerville won a nail biter 67-66 against Gabriel Richard. Wilkinson has had a breakout season and once again last night showed the type of player that he can be. Wilkinson scored a game high 30 points and was a tough matchup all night on both ends.</p>
