The sectional playoffs for Class 4 will be held on Tuesday and for Classes 5 and 6 on Wednesday. Prep Hoops Missouri takes a look at some of the under the radar standouts from the teams that will be participating in sectional playoff games. These are players who either led teams are rather unheralded or those who provide valuable support on teams with established star players.

Shamar Williamson (New Madrid Central): On a team that is built around getting the ball inside to 6’5" standouts [player_tooltip player_id="1160651" first="Jadis" last="Jones"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1180834" first="Marcelous" last="Phillips"], the 6’0" 2022 guard has taken up a bigger load on the perimeter to balance the offense. He’s an excellent football player and he brings that toughness and aggressiveness to the basketball court. He can score well in traffic inside on the drive and he’s a solid rebounder from the guard position. He had 14 points and six rebounds in the Eagles’ victory over Dexter in the Class 4, District 1 championship game.

[player_tooltip player_id="1180544" first="Filip" last="Sinobad"] (Chaminade): When 6’10" All-State [player_tooltip player_id="981141" first="Tarris" last="Reed Jr"]. left Chaminade to attend Link Year Prep for his senior year, it left a big hole up front for the Red Devils. The 6’7" 2022 has done an excellent job of filling in with his own unique skill set. He plays with a high motor and he can stretch the defense with his 3-point shooting. He his making 43 percent of his 3-pointers while knocking down 45 triples this season. He’s very good on the pick and pop.

Daeye Miller (Mexico): The 27-0 Bulldogs are built around a team full of talented guards who play up-tempo ball with his overall speed and quickness. The 6’4" 2022 forward is the team’s "big" man, but he fits right in because he is an excellent athlete who plays with a big motor. He plays bigger than his actual size and he outworks bigger players with sheer effort. He is able to cover a lot of ground on the back line of the Bulldogs’ pressure defense.

Scottie Osborn (Willow Springs): The undersized 6’0" forward has been a standout performer at Willow Springs for four varsity seasons, culminating in a district championship last week. He is strong and he knows how to play the position game at both ends of the court. He uses his body well to finish inside and he rebounds and passes the ball well. He averaged 18 points, 7.5 rebounds and three steals in last week’s Class 4, District 11 tournament.

[player_tooltip player_id="1180626" first="John" last="Brandtner"] (Cape Girardeau Central): The Class 5, District 1 champions have been built around the overall talents of 6’8" 2023 forward [player_tooltip player_id="1070085" first="Cameron" last="Williams"] all season. Brandtner is a 6’6" 2022 guard who provides steady and consistent play on the perimeter. He’s a calm ball handler who can see over defenders and come up with timely buckets when the team needs it. He’s a solid perimeter shooter with a nice pull up jumper

Aaron Walker, Jr. (SLUH): A 5’8 2023 point guard who provides speed and quickness and good defensive pressure. He can make opposing ball handlers with his on ball defense. He can also penetrate and give you timely buckets as he averages 10 points, four assists and two steals a game for the Class 6, District 1 champions.

Mike Harrison (Blue Springs): While teammate Ikenna Ezeogu has been dominant this season, this 6’3" 2022 guard has been a critical piece to the Wildcats 24-5 record and district championship with his versatility and tremendous energy. He has the size to score in the lane on slashing drives and get on the boards, as he averages five rebounds a game. He also averages 13 points a game with his ability to attack and solid perimeter jumper. He is also very disruptive on defense as with his athleticism and ability to be in the right position.

Liam O’Reilly (Springfield Catholic): A 6’2" 2022 guard who will be playing football at Missouri State next season, O’Reilly is a fine point guard and all-purpose standout that supports the great scoring of All-State teammate [player_tooltip player_id="991577" first="Zach" last="Howell"]. He is a strong ball handler and facilitator who also rebounds well from the guard position. He is so important to the success of the Irish because he can fill in many spots on the floor.

Blake Struemph (Fort Zumwalt South): A 6’2" 2023 guard who has stepped into a valuable role as the top perimeter threat for the Bulldogs’ Class 6 district championship team. He shoots a high volume of 3-pointers, but he makes them at a 39 percent clip. He has made 70 triples so far this season in averaging nine points a game. He made three in the Bulldogs’ victory over Troy in the the district finals last Saturday.

[player_tooltip player_id="1382127" first="Emmett" last="Pearce"] (Barstow): The 2022 point guard has been a consistent performer for Barstow’s district championship team this season. He is a good facilitator on offense and he is also the team’s primary scorer with 3-point range and the ability to create off the dribble. He is averaging 17 points, four rebounds and three assists a game.

Andre Montemayor (St. Charles West): I first saw this 6’2" 2023 guard play for the first time at the Lindenwood University Elite camp during the summer and he was impressive. He has been one of the most improved players in the St. Louis area this season. After averaging two points a game last season, he is now averaging 13 points a game while making 37 3-pointers to help the Warriors win a Class 4 district championship.
