Here’s a look at part one of the standouts from the event.
Elijah White Elijah White 5'11" | PG Kempsville | 2022 State VA | 5’11” PG | Kempsville
White was one of the best guards in the 757 all season, and he showed why at the Unsigned Senior Showcase as he showed the ability to both make plays for himself and others and is an incredibly skilled guard that can produce across the board. He’s a knock down shooter with a quick release and good range, he can get in the paint and get on two where he can deliver passes or finish in the midrange or around the rim, he has good control of the game and he never really gets sped up with the ball in his hands.
James Patterson James Patterson 6'5" | SG Carmel School | 2022 State VA | 6’5” WF | Church Hill Academy
Patterson was his usual productive self at the Showcase, as his game translates well to camps and he still plays with a good motor on both ends of the floor and makes plays in a number of different ways. He can score it from multiple levels and play both on and off the ball, he’s a strong and athletic finisher around the rim, he rebounds well on both ends of the floor and he can lock up and get steals as well.
Kashawn Cordes Kashawn Cordes 6'4" | SF Hermitage | 2022 State VA | 6’3” CG | John Marshall
Cordes showed how much he’s improved over the past few years at the Unsigned Senior Showcase as he looked like he could step in and play multiple positions right away at the next level. The 6’3” state champion played more on the ball than I’ve ever seen as he showed good decision making and the ability to create space and make shots, he finished with athleticism and shot the basketball well and he was very unselfish and made plays for others the whole time.
Roman Barshow Roman Barshow 6'6" | PF Steward School | 2022 State VA | 6’6” PF | Steward School
Barshow could have made an argument for MVP of the event as he did a little bit of everything and looks like he could be the steal of the class moving forward. At 6’6” he’s a little undersized at the four spot but he has the ability to stretch the floor and shoots it very well from deep and from the free throw line, he’s an explosive athlete who plays above the rim and rebounds well and he brings a bit of toughness to him as he plays with a good motor and makes the hustle plays as well.
Cam Kearney | 6’5” WF | Salem (VB)
Kearney is about as under the radar as they come as the 6’5” wing has a lot of tools that translate to the next level with his mix of size, athleticism and skill set. He has a good frame that is strong and is very explosive when he gets downhill, he showed the ability to play on the basketball and create shots for himself from multiple levels and he has great potential on the defensive end as well.
Pierce Boener | 6’1” PG | James River
Boener had a great senior season for James River and emerged as one of the top guards in the Richmond area, and he was fantastic in the event as he showed a very good skill set that allows him to impact the game in a number of different ways. He can knock down shots from deep both off the catch and off the bounce, he’s excellent in pick-and-roll situations and makes great decisions and he can control the game and make others better as well.
