Bronc Talk with coach Clay Pottorff

PHD: What were some of the highlights of the season?

Coach Pottorff - "Highlights of the season would have to be our weekend trip to Redfield, have never gone east river for a Fri-Sat back to back, beat Redfield 62-51 on Friday night then beat Northwestern 53-42 on Saturday. Beating Rapid City Christian at home, 64-54."

"Cherishing the bond these young men made with each other and the coaching staff throughout the years."

PHD: Which players improved the most for you this season?

Coach Pottorff - "Anthony Staley (Jr), started at center for us. Struggled with looking for his offense early on but picked up more confidence as the season went on. Finished the year with a strong performance against Hill City (18 points, 13 rebounds)."

PHD: Who were your biggest "impact players" this season?

Coach Pottorff - "[player_tooltip player_id="968198" first="Aiden" last="Giffin"] was solid for us all year, averaged 15.6 PPG and 7.2 RPG. Scored 37 points in a win at Harding County."

"[player_tooltip player_id="963830" first="Anthony" last="Budmayr"] averaged 12 PPG, 3.3 RPG, 2.8 APG. We were a much better team when he was on the floor – battled with some foul trouble on and off throughout the season."

"Ryker Audiss stepped up big for us in some tight games, knocked down 6 3’s at Redfield. Averaged 10.2 PPG and 6.5 RPG"

PHD: Who was your best shooter?

Coach Pottorff - "[player_tooltip player_id="963830" first="Anthony" last="Budmayr"], made 44 3PFG’s, Ryker Audiss, made 32 3PFG’s, Gabe Heck, made 32 3PFG’s and ended his career at 38% 3PFG."

PHD: Who was your best practice player and why?

Coach Pottorff - "Cole Hockenbary brought the juice every time he stepped on the floor. At times, I would try to persuade him to slow down while on offense but I would much rather try and reign in a wild mustang than ignite a fire in a domesticated dog."

PHD: Who were some of your key bench players?

Coach Pottorff - "Cole Hockenbary (Sr), gave us good energy. Tatin Yackley (Jr), really stepped up in some big moments for us this year and will be a big piece to our puzzle next year. Caiden Stores (Sr), smart role player."

PHD: Can you make a few comments about the seniors that you are losing?

Coach Pottorff - "This senior class is a special class that really loved the game of basketball and loved playing together. It was hard to go out the way they did, buzzer-beater by Hill City to upset us in the first round of Region 8A play, but they did things the right way and continued to add to the foundation of Bronc basketball for younger Broncs to live up to."
