4A State Tournament X-Factors
Matchup 1
1 Seed Eudora
Logan Sullivan, G, 2024: The young guard will be called upon to continue stretching the floor and providing that wing shooting to help compliment the great size and athleticism of the Eudora basketball squad. Has a couple games on the season already with a barrage of the 3 balls made. Really good off the catch, catching from post kick outs, and getting open looks in transition.
8 Seed Hayden
Joe Otting Joe Otting 6'3" | C Hayden | 2023 State KS , 6’5 F, 2023: The big fella has been on an absolute tear during Hayden’s post season run. He comes on our X-Factor list because stopping him inside the painted area will be the X-Factor for others teams beating Hayden. He is strong, quick, tremendous footwork, and has soft touch. Imposes his will inside and he will be the guy who can take Hayden deep with his physicality.
Matchup 2
4 Seed Abilene
Kaleb Becker Kaleb Becker 6'4" | SF Abilene | 2022 State KS , 6’4 W/F, 2022: Their top player will also be their X-Factor moving through these playoffs. Becker the big senior impact player for the Cowboys will have to provide his elite inside/out forward play on the offensive end with his soft touch from 15 ft out, and array of footwork in the post. His rebounding ability could be big time and he will need to get to about 10 boards in games which he is capable of doing.
5 Seed Bishop Miege
Aidan Wing Aidan Wing 6'4" | SF Bishop Miege | 2023 State KS , 6’4 G, 2023: The potential is starting to flourish for Wing with some huge games in sub state. A solid all around player from shooting the basketball efficiently, making nice passes, and can defend. His perimeter skill set and big game ability makes him a great compliment to Bowen-Webb and can put on a barrage of offense at all three levels.
Matchup 3
2 Seed Buhler
Isaiah Hernandez Isaiah Hernandez 5'10" | CG Buhler | 2022 State KS , 6’1 PG, 2022: The senior point guard made his most clutch play of the season with the game winner in sub state attacking the rim off a screen rejection. Great floor general and gets his guys in the right spots. His point guard IQ has shown to be off the charts in these huge games down the stretch.
7 Seed McPherson
Kyden Thompson, 6’ G, 2024: Talented young guard on this roster who is a shifty and athletic playmaker with the ball in his hands. His opportunity has grown throughout the season and he has done quite a bit with it. Gives them another playmaker on offense and could help spark them to some big wins.
Matchup 4
3 Seed Andale
Wyatt Spexarth Wyatt Spexarth 6'3" | SF Andale | 2023 State KS , 6’3 G, 2023: His elite level shooting could be a massive story in this state run. He can get going quick and from deep in a variety of ways. Off the catch, pull ups in transition, in the half court against zone, and off screens. Also a terrific defender, this two way guard could put a big stamp in this bracket.
6 Seed Paola
Caden Marcum, 6’5 W, 2022: A long athlete provides great length that can be played inside and out, especially letting it rip from 3. He runs hard in transition and has some great athleticism. Him and Moala make a great tandem. Marcum is a solid passer and reads the floor well, and with his lenght can influence the game passing the rock as well.
