The 2024 rankings in NorCal has been updated. The lifting of the restrictions allowed Prep Hoops to add more than 40 newcomers to this class. This is part II the outstanding new prospects in the 2024 class.

[player_tooltip player_id="1382883" first="Jalai" last="Rencher"] 6’7 PF of Skyline, Oakland

Rencher has a solid body and is active on the defensive side of the ball. He goes after blocks, and rebounds with good effort. He goes straight up with two hands to challenge shots. He has good strength to defend bigger players in the post. He’s a big target, moves well, and gets wide in the post. He has a jump hook and drop step.

[player_tooltip player_id="1383575" first="Tzahari" last="Trevino"] 6’4 PG, CG of Valley Christian, San Jose.

A good sized guard who plays both guard spots. He tends to be more of a scoring guard looking to go on the attack from different areas of the court. He does have the handles, and passing skills to run an offense. He’ll look to shoot from 3 when it’s there. He can defend in the open court and will rebound from the guard spot. We need to see more of him.

[player_tooltip player_id="1382862" first="Marcel" last="Longmire"] 6’4 G, of Armijo

A long armed active prospect who plays multiple positions at this level. He plays with good energy. He’s effective in the paint working for rebounds, and finishing strong on the put back. He has a good touch from the elbow in using his length to finish around the rim, and paint jumpers.

[player_tooltip player_id="1382888" first="Spencer" last="Shonnard"] 6’3 SG of San Leandro

He’s a guard with decent handles to creates space for himself to get open looks for his jump shot. He has a nice step back jumper. He aggressively looks to shoot his shot from mid-range or from behind the 3pt line. He’s a bit streaky but can get hot. He plays with good energy and runs the court.

[player_tooltip player_id="1383618" first="Drevon" last="Johnson"] 6’8 SF/PF of Modesto Christian

Johnson has shown us some of what he’s capable of. We’ll get a better look at him in the spring and summer. He has a long wingspan, and plays with some toughness. Right now he’s most effective defending in the post, going after blocks, and rebounding. He’s had some success working for points in the paint, he runs the court. He’s on Wright’s Watch List.

[player_tooltip player_id="1382884" first="Langston" last="Burkett"] 6’6 PF of Santa Cruz.

The two sport athlete (baseball) is still kind of raw on the court, but he’s a big body and uses it to be effective from the high post and in. He can take it strong with one dribble from the high post to the rim, he sees cutters to the basket and shooters in the corner. He’s hard to stop when he’s on balance and going up off two feet on the low block.

Caden Pinnick 5’11 G of Del Oro.

Pinnick is a 3 sport athlete carrying a 4.0gpa in the classroom, he averaged15pts a game. He’s a strong player with good handles and quickness. He can beat a defender on the initial attack going to his left or right. He has the strength and hops to challenge bigger defenders in the paint. He has a floater and a paint jumper. He's fast pushing it in transition. He can stay in front of most guards.

[player_tooltip player_id="1382881" first="Charles" last="Mathis"] 6’0 G of Mt Diablo

A quality guard who contributes in different ways. He has the speed and quickness to create his shot and involve others. He can handle the ball and be a facilitator when called upon. He averaged 11pts, 4.2asts, 3.5rebs, and 2.1asts. He has the toughness to challenge, and finish against defenders in the paint, and a solid mid-range jumper

[player_tooltip player_id="1383578" first="Nick" last="Corbett"] 6’5 PF/C of Bellarmine College Prep

Corbett is a two sport athlete(football). He’s a big body with good fundamentals. He’s deliberate and patient working his way around in the post area. He’s an excellent screener and passer. He’ll score off two feet in the paint, he works well from the high post, and will defend and rebound with good effort.

[player_tooltip player_id="1382889" first="Damian" last="Mcalister"] 6’4 W/F of Monterey Trail

A two sport athlete (football) He’s a bit thin and raw but he’s a contributor to a team that doesn’t need him to score right now. His long arms help him defend in the post and get a few blocks. He’s an active rebounder with good length to defend on the perimeter and in the post. He'll run the court, and will shoot a 3 if wide open.
