Today we will be taking a look at some of the Sophomore class who used this season to improve their game throughout and potentially make impacts on their varsity programs. These guys have a high ceiling and look forward to continuing evaluating them on their high school journey’s.

[player_tooltip player_id="1378448" first="Emmett" last="Gaskill"], 6’2 G/W, Hugoton: Raised his game with more varsity opportunity this year and was a great multi tool basketball player for a really good Hugoton squad this year that ended in the state tournament. Gaskill raised his averages in every statistical category this year, but his continued impact with the non stat plays played a big role in his teams success. Talking on the floor, defending, causing disruptions on the defensive end, and making smart plays stood out on the season. He is a strong guard with a quick burst as well.

Eli Lang, 6’ G, Minneola: From winter break on was a much improved guard with a bunch of big time spurts of offense for Minneola on the season. Had a ton of usage after the break and had a 30 point game and multiple high scoring efforts in the process. When he gets the three ball going it really elevates his game, but he is most consistent attacking the rim and the painted area.

[player_tooltip player_id="1300833" first="Dallas" last="Metzger"], 6’2 G/W, Derby (Pictured): Had some prime moments in big games and had his role expanded as the season progressed and showed he can and will be a consistent contributor for the well established Derby program. Has good length and athleticism on the perimeter and is a pretty versatile two way player. Nice knock down shooter, hitting 31 on the season at 42% from behind the arc.

Dezmond Winton, 5’8 G, Wellsville: Had some highs and some lows this year, but after the break the young guard really hit his stride. The second half of the season he showed he has the chance to be a high quality guard scoring the ball off the catch, getting to foul line and being efficient, and microwaving from the foul and scoring in bunches. January and February were really strong months for him and showed big time improvement.

[player_tooltip player_id="1378443" first="Wyatt" last="Lewis"] 6’1 G, St Thomas Aquinas: Came on in February and showed his impact on the Varsity level rather quickly. Lewis has really expanded his game and poise on the floor and helped Aquinas in a variety of ways. Great hands on defense, good at getting to the ball, and is a sneaky good shot blocker as a guard. Him and [player_tooltip player_id="1270272" first="Kale" last="Staats"] growing on the court together could be very scary. Lewis is a good athletic guard player.
