Daniel Brown, 6’2 F, Bishop Ward: An undersized big man, but Brown is a human motor on the basketball floor. Plays with constant energy and toughness while being one of the best undersized rebounders in Kansas. Knows how to play the ball off the glass extremely well and cleans up rebounds on both ends of the floor. Has had multiple 15+ rebound games on the season. His ability to bang inside, finish efficiently, and protect the paint allows for Ward’s athletic guards to flourish.
Tate Brown Tate Brown 6'0" | SG Manhattan | 2022 KS , 6’1 G, Manhattan High: Another Brown on this list that plays with a really high motor. Moves quick on the floor, covers a ton of ground on the defensive end of the floor, gets deflections and steals. Solid on ball defender and rebounder as well. Great cutter on the offensive end of the floor and can get hot from the perimeter in stretches. Efficient finisher in the paint and had a nice game winning layup in a solid late season win.
Emmitt Jueneman Emmitt Jueneman 6'1" | SF Hanover | 2022 State KS , 6’2 G, Hanover: A little hidden at the 1A level, the defending player of the year for the class has had another tremendous season for Hanover, crossing the 1,000 point mark this week. A guard who has molded his game in the last three seasons from being an athletic 3 and D player, to an all around guard with some handle ability, getting into the paint and finishing, and can handle some point duties. Extremely springy and gets off the floor fast.
Ishmael Fadiga, 6’4 F, Junction City: Long arms and long strides make Fadiga a unique forward prospect. Roams the defensive end well and finds help side opportunities for blocked shots or contests. A good screen and roll player as a catch and finish player and scorer off offensive rebounds. Consistency and a strong playoff run could get more eyes on this forward prospect.
Matt Flenoy, 6’5 F, Topeka High: Much like Fadiga, Flenoy is another Centennial league big that could use a nice sub state run to showcase his ability, especially with missing some time this year due to injury. Flenoy is a big bodied forward who plays with a ton of toughness. If he gets going towards the rim out of the post, off rolls, rim runs, or on an offensive board, Flenoy is tough to keep out of the paint. Has put together some really solid games both scoring the ball efficiently and rebounding it. One of the better post defenders in the Centennial League.
Servando Gonzalez Servando Gonzalez 5'10" | CG Lakin | 2022 State KS , 5’11 PG, Lakin: One of the best state wide unheralded players, especially in terms of scoring the basketball. Can get his shot off from all over the floor whether it’s off the dribble for three, getting into the mid range pull up game, and getting into the painted area for soft floaters or tough layups through traffic. Gonzalez puts up points in bunches out at Lakin, a really quick and electric guard to watch operate with the ball in his hands.
Tae Rosales, 5’11 PG, Garden City: A silent killer out west for Garden City, Rosales is a really solid lefty guard who can fill the stat sheet highlighted with his 24 point, 4 rebound, and 4 assist performance the other night. Rosales can shoot it off the catch really well, pushes the tempo and makes plays in transition, and I like how he influences the game in the back court outside of the scoring column. He makes some really nice sneaky passes around defenders to get his guys some really good looks. Plays with great confidence on the floor as a lead guard. Can play the 1 or 2.
Keaton Williams Keaton Williams 6'8" | C Wichita Southeast | 2022 State KS , 6’7 F, Wichita Southeast: A long and lanky shot blocker. Floats and roams on the defensive end and does a good job of blocking shots as a help defender without fouling. On the offensive end he is at his best in the dunker spot waiting for dump offs and finishes up at the rim with two hands with strong dunks but can also finish with either hand for layups. Does a good job of finding open areas on the offensive end to be effective as a paint scorer. An athletic and long shot blocker for schools looking for that in their program.
Dash Cleveland, 6’1 G, Free State: An underrated guard mainly because of the loaded roster, but Cleveland has bought in to his role and will be a pivotal part of Free States state title run. Is a really good on ball and help defender with his athleticism and willingness to get down and guard. Plays within himself on the offensive end and thrives when he gets angles to get downhill and into the painted area. Has some crafty finishes with either hand in his arsenal when he is in attack mode.
