Check out my list of some of the best available and unsigned senior forwards from 2022! Look for them to get some late buzz as this season winds down, and maybe as they lead their teams towards a state title shot!

Major is a towering force with great strength down low. His ability to destroy people with ease on the block allows him a plethora of easy scoring looks at the rim. He is a very smart and aware player who knows how to maneuver his way out of traffic and through double teams. Being one of the tallest kids in Texas, he has seen his fair share of unique defenses. I loved watching him manipulate defenses with his shot fakes and uses his limited dribble moves to get into open space for easy looks at the rim or for contested hook shots. His ability to see over defenders and the defense allows him to make good passes to an open shooter on the backside, a common point in his game with as many double teams as he sees on a nightly basis.

He has an incredibly high release point on his shot from every area of the floor, allowing him to shoot over seemingly anyone. He has the ability to space the floor and punish you from beyond the arc if you let him set his feet for a split second. New has been on a tear to end this season having multiple twenty rebounds per game nights to go along with some impressive scoring numbers.

[player_tooltip player_id="889571" first="Nehikhare" last="Igiehon"] 2022 6’8 Westlake High School (Austin)

Nehikhare is a towering force with all of the tools to make it at the next level. His ability to consistently finish in the paint really stood out, especially with a live dribble and running the fast break. He has a strong handle for his size and uses it well in the half court and the full court to put pressure on his defenders. He has the ability to simply back down his defender into the spot he wants underneath the rim, or he can cross him up near the three point line and force him to drop further than the defender realizes until Igiehon punishes them into the rim. I was blown away by all of the little things he is able to do right on the offensive end of the floor. He has a Giannis Antetokounmpo style game to him, and it was a real treat watching him bully other forwards on the block. I am interested to see what kind of attention he gets as the season begins to wind down!

[player_tooltip player_id="959247" first="Kyron" last="Henderson"] 2022 6’7 Dallas Kimball High School

Kyron is the definition of a dual sport athlete, playing wide receiver for Kimball as well. He has all the tools to become an effective player at the next level, especially with the freak athleticism he has displayed in the past. His long arms that make him a threat on the football field also help him on the court where he can catch almost any pass that comes his way as he is cutting through the back side of the defense. His length is great on the defensive side of the floor as well where he can intercept passes and block shots at the rim. He is great at protecting the rim, and knows how to leap to high point the ball on a rebound or a shot attempt.

I was most impressed with his agility and ability to not only move laterally but his end to end speed with the ball in transition. He is a freight train on the break and when he gets going downhill in the half court. He is a very smart playmaker out of the pick and roll, and is great at taking what the defense gives him after setting a good, hard screen. He is a consistent option when given the time to set his feet and shoot from beyond, however I would like to see him work to attack the midrange more.

[player_tooltip player_id="1295898" first="Michael" last="Roberts"] 2022 6’5 Leadership Prep of Frisco

Michael is an explosive athlete who displayed a real ability to jump off one leg and jump multiple times. He had an impressive windmill dunk on the fast break as well that turned some heads. He knows how to use his talent; he is great at hanging in the air and going after tip ins and tip outs to open teammates. He showed a real ability to guard positions one through four with ease and slide over to protect the rim. His ability to block shots in the paint really made a difference for his team. He loves going after chase down blocks on the fast break as well, and that kind of effort does not go unnoticed on the basketball court!

[player_tooltip player_id="958618" first="Cole" last="Reid"] 2022 6’8 Waco Midway High School

Cole has a very soft touch in the paint, midrange and beyond the arc. He can handle the basketball up the court and even create offense for his team in transition. He loves getting to his soft floaters and runners in the lane where he can simply shoot over the top of seemingly anyone. His ability to get deep post position over stronger defenders was very impressive as he spins around on one foot to avoid contact at the rim. His ability to grab rebounds is a real weapon for his team, he is great at high pointing the ball and quickly getting it to his guards. I would like to see him get more aggressive in the paint, and make it more well known that no one can hang with him. At times he wanted to avoid contact a bit too much and took a less high percentage look as he faded away from the basket.
