Were going to look at some of the senior’s entering post season play in the next week or so who will be vital pieces to winning big time ball games in the post season. Looking at leadership qualities, making winning plays, and has backed up his play with W’s for their program.

Guards

[player_tooltip player_id="891910" first="Trevor" last="McBride"], 6’1 PG, Basehor Linwood: Has seen and been a major part of a lot of winning in his career including in postseason play. An extremely high basketball IQ leading the back court for Basehor both on running the offense with the ball in his hands while being adaptable off the ball as a screener and cutter. A good play maker for others while not sacrificing turnovers or possession killing plays for his team as one of the leaders in Kansas in assist to turnover ration, a point guard quality that proves vital in post season play.

[player_tooltip player_id="962663" first="Keeon" last="Hutton"], 6’3 G, Wichita Northwest (Pictured): Hutton’s physicality, competitiveness, and poise in the back court has helped get Northwest in a primed position heading into the 6A post season. His ability to get downhill, be a high paint touch guard, and put immense pressure on defenses has this senior in gear to lead Northwest on a big post season run. Hutton is a physical guard that has a tough handle with the ball and gets defender’s off balance and finishes with a purpose.

[player_tooltip player_id="891904" first="Damare" last="Smith"], 5’11 PG, Shawnee Mission Northwest: Another floor general with a microwave scoring ability. Smith’s versatility to be a guard that can take over games with his 3 level scoring ability or with his creation for his talented teammates make him the ultimate tool in the back court as teams play a wide variety of matchups in the post season.

[player_tooltip player_id="891905" first="Xavier" last="Hall"], 5’10 PG, Bishop Miege: You wana talk about a guy who has won a ton of games on the grassroots and high school scene and who has sacrificed the most statistically to get wins, you start with Hall. The stats won’t wow you, but the film and watchin Hall run the point guard position will. Really gets the game, high IQ, makes necessary plays for himself and teammates to set themselves up for success. Hall is the guy you want running the show in a big game.

[player_tooltip player_id="891912" first="Nahcs" last="Wahwassuck"], 6’5 PG, Royal Valley: The recent Emporia State commit is back and helping lead Royal Valley on another State tournament run. Another guard who can influence big games with his scoring or playmaking. Has seen his fair share of wins, big moments, and clutch play making during his high school career. Look for the lengthy point guard to be the floor general for these high stakes games down the stretch.

Wings/Forwards

[player_tooltip player_id="1076260" first="Elijah" last="Brooks"], 6’4 W, Topeka West: Has the been the main piece of the engine pushing Topeka West towards a Centennial League title and potential return to the big stage at state. One of the leading scorers in the state of Kansas, Brooks has done his work in transition, getting downhill into the paint, being dominant on defense with his activity and length, and has made some huge shots in the clutch moments of games.

[player_tooltip player_id="1075931" first="Jace" last="Linenberger"], 6’8 F, Hays: The big fella is the pin and focal point for Hay’s strong defense and imposing offense. He brings a lot of attention to his ability to dominate inside, and opens up a lot of opportunities for his teammates. Seems to get better and better as the season progresses in each of his seasons, and as his touches increase in the post season, look for the sweet footed and soft touch big man to make a statement this post season.

[player_tooltip player_id="1139921" first="Jimmy" last="Dorsey"], 6’4 W, Wellsville: Dorsey has been on an absolute tear down the stretch shooting the 3 ball at an extremely high clip and putting up some insane scoring numbers. An electric perimeter scorer with the athletic ability to be a great cutter and interior scorer as well. If Dorsey’s scoring output continues to be this hot, he will be carrying Wellsville quite a distance this post season.

[player_tooltip player_id="1195623" first="Grayson" last="Ratzlaff"], 6’7 F, Hillsboro: The state favorites have tremendous guard play, but if Hillsboro wants to finish the job this season, the bigger Ratzlaff will be the X-Factor. A long, athletic, versatile, and quick wing/forward combo makes him the matchup nightmare teams will have to try and match up with this post season. An extremely efficient offensive player and a game changing defensive presence, watch out for a huge sub state performance from the 6’7 Ratzlaff.
