The brackets are set with 14 teams vying for the State Crown, 6 in the North and 8 in the south. In the north, Spanish Springs and Bishop Manogue earned the 1 and 2 seeds and received a buy. In this article, we take a look at some of the key Impact players in the 5A Northern Playoffs.
Dominic Williams Dominic Williams 6'5" | SF Reed | 2024 State NV 6’4 SF Reed 2024 (featured image) – Williams is coming off the heels of a terrific year. The sophomore forward is a multi-level scorer, capable of taking over games on the offensive end. The Raiders open up against Damonte Ranch, a team Williams had a double-double vs, going for 18-12.
Jaelin McDougall Jaelin McDougall 6'2" | SG Spanish Springs | 2022 State NV 6’2 SG Spanish Springs 2022 – The leading scorer for the undefeated regular season conference champs is an obvious choice. The senior guard will need to be at his best in order to provide the Cougars with a scoring punch. McDougall has shown that he can knock down the open three, or change the scoreboard with his ability to finish in transition.
Logan Howren Logan Howren 6'4" | SG Bishop Manogue | 2023 State NV 6’4 SF Bishop Manogue 2023 (#28PHN 2023) – Howren may be the most important player for the Miners. The two-sport star is a swiss army knife player, capable of impacting games in a variety of ways. His leadership, toughness and playmaking will be key to the Miners making a deep playoff run.
Kasen Boggs Kasen Boggs 6'3" | CG Douglass | 2022 State NV 6’3 CG Douglas 2022 – Can my man Kasen Boggs Kasen Boggs 6'3" | CG Douglass | 2022 State NV get some love? The senior guard put together a phenomenal year and backed it up with more than statistics. Behind the play of the senior guard, the Tigers went 12-4, earning a three seed. Boogs has the kind of moxie and scoring ability, to lift his entire squad. Douglas faces off against McQueen in their opening-round matchup, a team they went 2-0 against, while Boggs averaged 22ppg in the two contests.
Jordan Morency Jordan Morency 6'4" | PG Bishop Manogue | 2023 State NV 6’2 PG Bishop Manogue 2023 (#12PHN 2023) – Morency is the type of competitor that’s built for the playoffs. The Miners will need his playmaking, and outside shooting if they are to advance. Manogue faces the winner of Douglas and McQueen. If they survive that game, they may be in line for another shot at Spanish Springs a team they lost twice to. Morency averaged 9ppg in those contest.
Jake Penny Jake Penny 6'0" | CG Spanish Springs | 2022 State NV 6’0 SG Spanish Springs 2022 – Penny is the heart and soul of the conference champs. The 6’0 guard contributes in a ton of ways including on the glass, and the defensive end. When he’s counted on to score he’s shown the ability to deliver, knocking down 5 threes and finishing with 17 points in a win over Douglas.
