Jabarroi Mcghee 6’2 PG/ SG Winfield 2022
Mcghee is a superior athlete with a rare combination of size, strength, speed, and explosiveness. He operates as a slasher and a paint beast from the guard position. His linebacker-like frame packs a serious punch and presents significant problems for guards and even some forwards. Mcghee’s is an elite leaper who can simply finish at a level most can’t reach. When in the open court he shows great accelration, speed, and ability find angles to finish. Though Mcghee is score first guard he knows how to use transition to get teammates involved, get paint touches and kick to open shooters, and how to balance his scoring and passing at a solid rate. With Mcghee being the most exciting player left in the area it’ll be interesting to see if he can lead Windfield to a championship.
Luke Smith Luke Smith 6'5" | SF Plainview | 2023 State AL 6’5 SF/PF Plainview 2023
Smith seems to have found his groove at the right time of the year. As a well-rounded scooter who can score inside and out, Smith might be the best scorer left in the 3A region.. He’s proficient as a shooter off the catch, can efficiently attack closeouts, finish with both hands, and play above the rim with authority. With this solid skill set he flourishes within structured offense and is very good with his shot selection. Smith is also a terrific passer who can find cutters with ease. He passes with anticipation and accuracy in both transition and the half-court. His feel for the game is evident and will be needed for Plainview to hold the trophy.
Cole Millican Cole Millican 6'1" | NA lbs | CG Plainview | 2022 State #NA Nation AL 5’11 PG/SG Plainview 2022
Millican can simply take over the game as a sharp-shooting guard with limitless range. As one of the better shooters in the state, Millican’s quick-release makes life difficult for defenders because all it takes is a sliver of daylight, and Millican can put three on the board. Millican’s ability to shoot off the catch and do so with range is very uncanny and stretches the defense to extend well beyond the three-point line. Late closeouts seem to not bother him in the least, and he always gets a solid lift and balance on his shots. Millican is a very streaky shooter, so if he sees some go in early, you can expect him to put up big numbers through this last stretch of the playoffs.
Adam Kesserwani 6’6 C Houston Academy 2022
Kesserwani’s presence as an interior defender is going to have significant impact on the outcome of the 3A Final Four. At 6’6 220 pounds, Kesserwani has the size to control the paint on both ends. As a rim protector, he affects a lot of shots and the rim and collects rebounds at a high rate. In addition to that, Kesserwani’s ability to deliver accurate and timely outlet passes can unlock opportunities in transition. Offensively, he takes high percentage shots off rolls to the basket and offensive rebounds. Kesserwani won’t waste too many chances once the ball touches his hand with a solid pair of hands.
Tae Spears 6’0 PG/SG Southside 2022
Tae Spears is one of the more underrated guards in the area but can possibly make a name for himself if he turns it up during the final four. As a guard, he’s an explosive perimeter threat who can catch fire from deep and cause problems. In the half-court, he can get off the ball and relocate to space as a movement shooter, knock down shots off the catch, and is deadly from the corner, optimizing space and driving lanes for his teammates. Spears is also excellent at catching the defense slip in transition and launching bombs on the fastbreak.
