LISBON -- In a battle between the teams leading the divisions in the Tri-Rivers Conference, Class 1A #4 North Linn rolled past Lisbon, 75-50, on Thursday night.

The Lynx’s constant pressure forced Lisbon into a slew of first quarter turnovers as they jumped out to a 26-8 lead. Lisbon was able to close to within eight points on a few occasions, but the hole that they were put in early on was simply too much for them to overcome against the high-powered North Linn, who held a 40-29 lead at halftime and a 59-34 advantage after three quarters.

North Linn (18-1) was led by [player_tooltip player_id="1167744" first="Ben" last="Wheatley"] and [player_tooltip player_id="962658" first="Cade" last="Haughenbury"], who each had 14 points as all five starters scored in double figures. [player_tooltip player_id="1167704" first="Tate" last="Haughenbury"] had 11 points, and [player_tooltip player_id="682273" first="Austin" last="Hilmer"] and [player_tooltip player_id="962641" first="Dylan" last="Kurt"] each had 10 points. Hilmer also dished out 14 assists in the win.

Lisbon (15-4) was led by [player_tooltip player_id="962694" first="Tyson" last="Scott"], who had 18 points and 9 rebounds for the Lions in the loss. [player_tooltip player_id="784986" first="Kole" last="Becker"] had 12 points, and Michael Gadberry had 8.

The future Upper Iowa point guard was in complete control on Thursday night, showcasing his unbelievable court vision and passing instincts in dishing out 14 assists. The younger brother of Jake Hilmer, the state's all-time assists king, Austin displays many of the same characteristics that Jake did - he's an excellent ball-handler, lightning quick, a good finisher around the rim, a fiery competitor, and an elite-level passer.

2023 [player_tooltip player_id="1167704" first="Tate" last="Haughenbury"] (North Linn)

A long and athletic forward who runs the floor and finishes at a high level, Haughenbury had 11 points and 8 rebounds for the Lynx, showing good body control and touch around the rim with either hand. He's a quick forward with good footwork and length that he uses to contest shots and rebound on both ends of the floor.

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="962641" first="Dylan" last="Kurt"] (North Linn)

A 6-2 off-ball guard with a quick release and a silky smooth stroke from behind the arc, Kurt is a strong three-level scorer who gets out in transition and shoots it at a high clip from 3. He's a high IQ player on both ends of the floor who positions himself well. He finished with 10 points on 4-9 shooting (2-5 3P), 3 assists, and 2 steals.

2023 [player_tooltip player_id="1167744" first="Ben" last="Wheatley"] (North Linn)

Wheatley is a good secondary ball-handler and decision-maker who values possessions, gets others involved, and can score from all three levels. He's a good finisher around the rim with either hand and flies around on the defensive end. He finished with 14 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals on 6-8 shooting.

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="962658" first="Cade" last="Haughenbury"] (North Linn)

Like younger brother Tate, Cade is a long, lean forward who runs the floor and finishes really well around the rim with either hand. He attacks the offensive glass, is a good enough ball-handler to pull down a defensive rebound and look to push the ball up the floor, and has excellent body control around the bucket. He had 14 points and 7 rebounds on 6-8 shooting.

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="784986" first="Kole" last="Becker"] (Lisbon)

Becker is a long and hyper-athletic wing who is headed to Iowa State on a track (jumping) scholarship. His length and athleticism is on full display routinely, as he rebounds well, contests shots, and has the ability to get to his shot whenever he wants. His jumper is a bit inconsistent, and he tends to take shots at odd angels instead of jumping straight up in his shot, but he's loaded with athleticism, length, and talent.

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="962694" first="Tyson" last="Scott"] (Lisbon)

Scott is an undersized big man who finishes really well around the rim. He had 18 points and 9 rebounds (6 offensive) on 8-11 shooting. He does a good job absorbing contact, has soft hands, and excellent touch.

2024 Michael Gadberry (Lisbon)

Gadberry was a pleasant surprise, finishing with 8 points and 4 assists. A 5-8/5-9 point guard, he handles the ball well and has good court vision. He had quite a few turnovers against the Lynx heavy pressure, but he got more comfortable against the heat as the game progressed. He has good court vision and is an excellent passer.
